Sup Bsted. If you need to talk, let me know. As for the surgery, I could walk you step by step of the procedure. FYI I'm a certified surgical technologist and certified first assistant. I've worked for USC Medical Center, UCI Medical Center, and Kaiser Permanente. You know exactly which part of the brain the cyst is on and about how large or deep it's expanded in? I know surgery is a scary thing, but it's a necessity. Just know that your child is in good care. Stay up bro, and hit me up if you need to talk. My prayers are with you and your family. Peace...

thanks EVERYONE for being supportive. I am having a HARD time accepting this but I know they need to do it for him to be back to his normal little self. I just want the surgery to come and go. I want him to be back home and running around and helping me work (in his own way) on the car LOL. I am glad there are people like you guys on here. There is no better thing than to have support from peers through this difficult time in my life.
Again thanks everyone."you can catch me swoopin 4G coupin switchin lanes" haha haha.

olive...... the cyst is a left temporal lobe aracnoid cyst it is about 2" in diameter. it is a fluid filled cyst so they don't want it to burst because of fear of it causing meningitis. It is causing pressure on the brain by what they said and they want it off ASAP.
They are doing the surgery Jan. 14th of 2005 so I have to make the time with him count so that I am confident the surgery will be a success."you can catch me swoopin 4G coupin switchin lanes" haha haha.

2 inches. Wow. Yea, I would've expected meningitis too if it burst. Has there been any significant changes in his behavior? Does he seem more sleepy than usual? I really hate how these random things happen to people who so don't deserve it. No one deserves it. The procedure is fairly straight forward. Did the doctor mention what kind of fluid was in the cyst? Hit me up on AIM later. Stay up, bro. Peace...O'skool fo sho! You might hate, but I been doin' this long before you know.

you're in iowa, so i assume you're child will be at the university of iowa, or an affiliate. good things are said about their medical school, as well as residency programs there, so i believe your child will be in good hands.
my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Yes he is going to be at the UI hospital that is where his appt. was and where his neurologist is. I would NOT trust ANYONE else to do it. If it weren't 1 hr away I would drive the distance to get there JUST for him.
The fluid that is filling the cyst is the same fluid that flows over and through the brain is what the neurologist said.
The only behavior changes or non normal acts is balance (he is ALWAYS falling or walking sideways ) but as for tired or sleepiness it hasn't been too bad.
Here is a pic of my son attached. You can all see why I love him he is ALWAYS SOOO CUTE"you can catch me swoopin 4G coupin switchin lanes" haha haha.

This is the first I've heard of this news, as parents this must be so hard on you. I've wondered about how I'd deal with something like this happening to any of my future children or for that matter any loved one. Man, my prayers are totally with you every night from here on out until some good comes out of this situation. I hope that in some way, somewhere down the road this will make good for something. Some good has to come out of this, everything happens for a reason...
God bless you as parents and your son

wow I'm glad I actually decided to go into the genral section on this forum for once. It never really hits me to how strong we have to be sometimes for not only ourselves but for others as well. I know it's hard for you to try to hold it all together for your fiance and your family. So when u do cry let it all out my friend it truely does help. Your son will be ok and you'll be able to see him graduate from high school, and driving cars, playing sports, and getting married soon enough as long as you don't stop believing. Never give up hope and may faith always be your guide. You're in our prayers.
Sincerely,
Eric Y.
