I just ordered the 8gig 2nd gen as well the other day. from what I was able to find out the only difference between 2nd and 3rd gen 8gig ipod touch is the OS. The 3rd gen is upgraded to version 3.1. the update is available separate for 2nd gen users for only 5 bucks. I couldn't find any differences in hardware other than the software difference, unless apple hid something and will enable it with a future update.

won a brand new newest gen ipod nano 8GB at work today. Cool little thing with the video camera and radio tuner but Ill stick with my 80GB Ipod Classic so i gave it away

I wanted one, but now my phone can do everything the touch can do and then some. Touch screen, free apps (windows mobile), phone, wifi, office mobile, plus with the 16gb card in it that brings me up to 24gb of storage. I love my samsung omnia.

I just download an app that has a parking reminder, but I guess you need the 3g network.
