    Changing music for the seasons...

For some reason, I find myself listening to certain things at certain times of the year.

Every time Fall rolls around, the metal comes out. I've been listening to Cradle of Filth's "Cruelty and the Beast" nonstop for 2 days. Before that was Moonspell's "Wolfheart". Next in line is probably my 2 favorite Samael albums, "Exodus" and "Passage".

Mixed in with that, of course, is just about everything done by the Misfits (old and new).

Does anyone else do this? or is my life just too closely tied to my music?

If I go for rap/hip-hop, it's usually in the summer, and usually more laid-back stuff. Dilated Peoples, Jurassic 5, etc... (well, not really etc... that's pretty much all I listen to regularly, aside from a few entertaining tracks from Luda, or a couple Geto Boys songs )

Metal usually stays in place until spring, along with darker punk like AFI and Alkaline Trio.

Spring is usually when I break out the ska and pop punk.

When it's raining I listen to calm music usually. And slow way down while driving.

Summer it's rock... and speeds usually come up.

Funny how the seasons do that.

I do the same, I listen to music in phases. I don't know that the weather or season has much to do with it though.

For me, it's almost always the same core stuff that I listen to at a certain time, with a few added new things.

We tend to cling to things that are comfortable. Around this time of the year I tend to think about things of my past and get hardcore deja vu, even a little bit nervous and anxious. So I listen to music that brings me back to when those things were going on. Jay-Z the black album, the Grateful Dead, and the Counting Crows will get me through winter.

I just realised I do it without even realising, only because you mentioned it.

Rock / Metal is summer, And mellow / R&B is winter.

I just can't wait for this rain to disappear then - Bring on Summer!!!

I agree completely. We link music playing in the background during a specific time to that specific event, and listening to said music brings back those memories.

I can't say that I change music with seasons, more like current mood/state of mind.
