Ok, so I ordered my TV and netbook

I got both from Tigerdirect. $599 for the TV... off-brand, 1080p, 42", 60hz (my only beef with it). I also got a refurbished netbook, identical to my Acer Aspire One (only in white, to match the Fit ) $230 for that. $45 to ship it UPS ground.

First, my credit card was declined because it was a "suspicious purchase". I had to use my debit card. Frustrating, but I had the cash, thankfully... so no biggie. Mastercard won't stop calling me with automated messages telling me to call them, though! If you're going to call me, call me... don't make me listen to a message asking me to call you!

Anyway, the UPS truck arrived with my TV yesterday at 2:30pm. I was 2 hours away, working. Did they leave it? No. Did they leave a note? No. Did I have to log onto UPS.com and track my order to see that it wasn't delivered? Youbetcha!

So it went out for delivery at 4:30am today, according to the site. I live about 10-15 minutes away from the UPS hub... which I know means nothing.

I have a note on the door telling them to leave the packages (the netbook is out for delivery as of 7:30 this morning... why did they have to ship separate?)
However, I don't know if that will work. I'm stalling... I have to go to work, but I REALLY want my damn TV!

I'm just venting... and killing time. As long as I'm typing this, I'm not getting ready to leave for work.

It won't work. I've tried it numerous times.

The good news is that after 2 or 3 failed attempts (depending on the driver I suppose) to deliver, you have to go get it at UPS yourself. lol

I wouldn't mind going to get it myself! I wish they would just leave a note saying to do so!

I should've just bought one at Best Buy...

They are terrible about that, though from a safety standpoint it probably prevents theft. I used to have to drive to UPS all the time (constantly buying new computer parts on newegg ) and most of the time you're in and out within a few minutes. I would just call them and tell them to hold onto it so you can pick it up sooner.

Grats on the TV and netbook!

          Thanks!

Yeah, it's irritating that I have to be here... or wait until they leave it at UPS for me to pick up.

Normally they leave a slip that I can sign to give permission for them to leave the stuff here. My area is very safe. I've left tools outside, my car unlocked, hell... I went to work one day with my front door wide open! The glass door didn't hide my bass and my amp, my xbox, my computer... Anyone could've just walked in and taken it all!

I understand their reasons... but come on... leave some of it up to the customer! If I lose my stuff, that's on me. If someone steals my credit card info, that's on me. I'd rather take a risk and accept the consequences than have Big Brother inconvencing me to protect me!

We need clear opt-out options on such things. I wish I had an option to just tell UPS to leave it on the step...

Yeah but alot of people arent so willing to take responsibility and say that it was their fault, in most cases they will put the blame on the shipping carrier and so I honestly think they are doing it to protect themselves.

What was the t.v brand you purchased?

You're late for work, Deev. If they don't deliver it today, call them to tell them to leave it for you to pick up tomorrow.

Eh, I make my own hours... so I'm really only late by my own standards.

I've dealt with this UPS hub before... if I try to arrange to pick it up, chaos ensues. It's happened twice before, where I called, went there, and it was still on a truck... or sent out mistakenly. Or lost for 3 days before they delivered it.

It's coming. I'll wait. It just sucks that as soon as it gets here, I'll have to run to work!

They always drop packages off with no one here for me... It depends on the area.. and risk of theft

They usually do for me. Maybe the seller requires a signature? Much of what I get is from private sellers, so I don't have to worry about that sort of thing.

Still no luck. I guess I'll be working tomorrow instead of today

                        Yeah, I would as well.

In this neighborhood, it's unlikely, though. It's small. It's quiet. It's not rich enogh that people are looking for nice stuff to score.

My neighbors are always around as well. The dude across the street is a cop, and he was just sitting on his front porch. The nosey old lady next door to me sees EVERYTHING. The people on the other side of me pulled into their driveway about an hour ago. The lady across the street doesn't work, and she's always home.

I don't talk to them much, but my neighbors look out for me.

tigerdirect does require sig we sell thru tigerdirect at my company cybertronpc and they are a good company just be sure not to sign if any damages. at newegg they give you 30 days for any damage that occured and must be in original packaging. and if im not mistaken tiger doesnt give 30days and dont throw away the packaging. we deny people all the time because things dont come back properly packaged in the original packaging

                            Cool. Thanks for that.

I had one problem with Tigerdirect a long time ago. I got a Compaq Ipaq, and right on top of the box it came in was an ad for the same thing, $100 cheaper! I called and bitched, and they said it was a typo. Still... that sucked!

Anyway, it just got here! Both of them
I think I'll still skip work, though. I won't get to the first stop until 4pm at this rate, and that's traffic time.
