Idk if i speak for alot of guys or how many of you agree with this, but there's a point; a line, that i draw.

When i meet a girl that im attracted to, i can usually determine, from the start, whether or not to put her in the "FRIEND ZONE".

If and when i do, i am still attracted to them, but as time moves on i sort of lose the urge to want to have sex with them. Maybe i respect them more, maybe i dont see them as a sexual partner--I dont know.

I just know that there are girl-friends of mine who i would have sex with, but i know that it would probably be awkward afterwards. Its hard to explain.

Basically, every girl is a Big Mac Combo. Some girls are worth losing the fries over. Some are not.

If the relationship was on a romantic/sexual level, and then brought back down to a "friends only" level... then things can get difficult. Especially if you still have romantic feelings towards the person (you still like and desire those fries...)

I dont think it should be unless both parties are in agreeance[sp?]. If one of you still has feelings for the other, then, no, "just friends" shouldnt happen.

And wtf?? From the start either be friends with me or stick with me. Dont decide years later that -YOU- think we'd be better as friends. IF im not good enough to love or be with, then i dont wanna be your friend.

That being said, I had dinner with my ex last night. Somehow we CAN just be friends. I have no desire for anything more. I should hate her (the situation was really bad...) but I don't. That's a bit of an extreme case, though. I'm not normal.

How long were you guys together, Mike? Plus you went so far as to get married. Not sure if that changes things or not, but i was with my ex for 4+ years and i do still think shes attractive, i no longer have the urge to have sex with her.

Maybe you can be friends only if youve been together for long periods of time, i dunno.

I was with my ex since I was 18. Married at 26, split at 27. I'm 29 now.

I initially thought that I found her less attractive because she gained weight... and it's true that I'm not really attracted to heavier girls. However, the issue was mainly that neither of us were satisfied with our lives, individually and together. She's not unattractive at all... the stresses of life just compromised all attraction.

I think that we're still able to be friends because I've been able to let things go. I don't dwell on the past, and I realize that the way things ended may very well have been the only way for them to end. I was very good at reeling her back in (we'd broken up quite a few times). I was so focused on maintaining the relationship that I lost sight of actually being happy. I was a lemming.

Now, I realize that she's not a bad person. I hope she has a happy life. I see the way she handled things in our relationship as a clear example of someone that I could never spend the rest of my life with. I'm lucky to be out of that relationship. It wasn't right for me.
