You can refuse a breathalyzer but you can't refuse an untrained, non-medical professional from drawing blood?

I don't see what's wrong with that, as long as you don't get some kind of disease because someone forgot to sterilize something.

i feel uncofortable that they have those. crap from all my experiences at the hopstial where they draw blood from me every three months, i get noobies that always seem to miss the vein. hell one time they missed three times in a row and then they ended up going through the front of my hand.

I don't know about you guys but needles hurt. hell what happens if those guys end up putting a small air bubble into me instead?

If the police are allowed to carry a syringe, they've been trained to use it. Just like their guns, pepper spray, anything else on their person. If they carry it, they know how to use it.

I'm fine with it. Again, I say, if you have a problem with it, don't go out in public drunk. Then you have no worries.

The news article says they're not given much training.

I still don't see how you can deny consent to take a breathalyzer test, yet you're required to submit yourself to have blood drawn?!

I think there are better tools out there that could be used. I am a friggin Emergency medical Technician and I cannot draw blood even. I went threw 160 hours or class time. And there gonna let cops have a expedited education because there only gonna be trained to draw blood form certain areas. Im all for keeping drunk drivers off the road but damn. Hell State Cops in my state dont even carry tasers yet. And they can pin you down to draw blood, something not right there.

2) it really doesnt require a whole lot of training to safely handle a syringe.

Not trying to be a dick here, but ANY of us could do it with a little bit of training. Diabetics give themselves shots everyday. I doubt they sat through months of training or seminars. Do you see what I'm saying?
