    Steel Reserve Beer...bcjammerx's beer reviews

*UGH...had to change my rating...just drank some (yeah 7am is my 7pm...)

Ok...well I like to try new beers EACH time I drink. So here is one review.

A note as to my tastes...so you can gauge better my opinion of beers.

I hate Heineken, of the sulfur taste only though. I don't like killians irish red...not at all. Bud light is decent. Miller light tastes ok to me...but tastes kinda...fake. Like it has the taste of bud or a regular beer but to me...seems like it has a faked after taste to make it taste like a reg beer. I like shiner bock and amber bock. I love mike's hard lemonade.

That should help you to gauge your tastes to my tastes. So I'm not looking for a critique of my tastes, but more of my opinion of said beer...only in relation to my taste...so if you share your opinion...please offer a good listing of your tastes...so other may view your opinion in context of your tastes. We all like different stuff and that's fine.

Any hoo onto my review of "steel reserve"

upon further drinking this stuff tastes more like piss than the first time...

Has 8.1% alcohol vs. 5% of bud ice....which has more than most beers including regular Budweiser.

8.1% is the most you can get for a beer as far as I know.

It does seem pretty smooth, doesn't have the aftertaste or initial taste that bud has that I've grown to love.

I won't have to force it down...but it won't be pleasant.

Why did I try it? Well the hospital I work at has it for alcoholic patients...though I don't see how one of these would do an alcoholic much good...I've had two in a shorter amount of time than I typically drink beer. I have an ok buzz going. I can tell it's there...but I'm not falling over. Wouldn't drive but....I don't drive even if I've had one so that won't help you gauge much.

Any hoo...there is another 8.1% by volume brand I wanna try.

I'm no connoisseur for sure...but I can easily tolerate this stuff, and I don't normally drink "fast" I like to savor my drinks.

Well I didn't really take my time on these...but I didn't chug it.

All in all...I give it a 4 out of 10

    (I give bud a 8-9 out of 10)
(I give mike's hard a 8 out of 10...but don't really rate it along with beers...just giving this as an fyi to help you gauge my "tastes")

haha, seriously. Bud? you actually enjoy drinking bud? That's like...you're a shoe fanatic and you love the shoes at walmart.

and shame on you for not liking Heineken.

i've got a coworker who drinks two 24 oz cans while he's getting off from work. Drinks that stuff down like it was water. Since i stock beer, i've had a can that i've accidently dropped and spray me. stuff smells weird.

me? i like Heineken, Dundee Honey Brown Lager and if i'm feeling cheap, then Miller Lite. I've tried Sapporo in the silver can before but i wasn't very impressed because i stuck a can into the dairy cooler at work so it would be all cold for me that evening. When i went to drink it, shit was frozen.

Since it's back in season, i think i'm going to grab me a six pack of Shipyard Pumpkin Ale, this stuff is suppose to be the shit.

Since i'm from Cincinnati, we got some old ass stuff here, like Hudy Delight, Burger beer, Schlitz... remember Schlitz? probably not, it's "The beer that made Milwaukee famous".

lol i like Heineken so much, this is my wallpaper for my phone and computer desktop.

Steel Reserve tastes just like the name. The only way to drink it is in a 40oz!

Your taste in beer is similar to mine, though. I mean, those are all low-end beers, but some of the low-end ones are palatable. We should have a beer review thread. Maybe I'll make a whole forum, and replace the animal forum with it.

              WHOO HOOOO...drinkin' buddy!!!

              The wal-mart connoisseur...

"Neaow...as fer as it goes...this here burr ain't all that bad"

Yeah...tis true tis true. Bud isn't the best by far...but I do enjoy it...seems I like it more for the nostalgia...it was THE first beer I tried.

Now steel reserve...I guess I was surprised by how NOT bad it was I expected to take a sip...spit it out and throw the case away...but it wasn't that bad.

Guess I was expecting a rusty, flat, horrid bitter, use for cleaning sludge off motors kinda beer. What I found was rather a beer I would seriously consider using to wash my dogs hair in.

OOOO Dundee is gooood. I love honey beer. Brookshires in kilgore once let you take an empty 6-pack and put 6 of whatever you wanted for like $6, that was a couple years ago not sure if they still do...was in october...need to see if they still do. I had this one honey brew...if I saw it I'd recognize it...was soooooo good.

Love fat tire...blue moon was tasty.

There are just SO many! But yes, steel reserve tastes kinda like the impression the name gives you...if you're on reserves...and you just NEED some beer...this stuff would work but it isn't the worst I've tried ...buuut isn't the best.

I dunno... I couldn't get over heini's flavor...to me it had a strong sulfur flavor...must say it was not bad though...I did enjoy it.

there are some beers i would say "no thanks" too if offered for free...heini isn't one...steel reserve isn't one either though I guess

I have yet to try Fat Tire. People always talk about it like we talk about Yuengling up here... and Yuengling is one of the best beers ever. Period.

It's good, but not that good.

                    It's a matter of taste.

Plus, it's made about 45 minutes from me. It's a staple here. At a bar, it's ALWAYS on tap... and you just order a lager. You don't even say the name.

Has anyone tried the Heineken Dark? I tried it for the first time this past weekend at a Japanese restaurant and it was nice.

Yeah, Heineken Dark is decent. I'm not a fan of the regular, and the light is terrible... but the dark was pretty good.

I'm a big fan of Becks Dark. Very rich taste to it.

That sells pretty well at my store but i've yet to try Arrogant Bastard.

I've been wanting to try Guinness but i hear it tastes like liquid smoke.

Guinness is great. Very smooth. It's best on tap.
