I took the car to a cruise-in/car show today. Out of 226 cars, there were four imports; mine, an xB, VW bug and a 74 MGb. There were a couple of sport compacts; SRT4 with cf trunk and hood, and a Cavvy with a wild paint job and interior. Most of the show went pretty well. I overheard a few people asking why my Accord was there, but after they checked it out, they usually sounded like they got it. A couple of people actually came back to where we were sitting and asked me if it was mine, and talked about it with me. Most of the comments I heard were positive, she got some decent attention and it was a good time.
The funniest part of my day was these two younger guys (mid-20s) checking it out. I walked over and told them "It's quicker than it looks." and they started talking about it. The first guy (Call him red)asks me if I'm going to go turbo with it, and I tell him that I'm going to stick with the spray and plan to build my next motor for a big fat shot. They seem impressed and then he says:
Red: "Yeah, I'm working on my Neon SE. I'm going with an electric turbo for it though."
Me: "Oh yeah? Which one? I only know of one that's any good. I can't remember the name of the manufacturer, but I want to say it's McKnight, but I'm not positive." (I know it's something Knight, but hey, let's have fun.)
His buddy:" Yeah, I think McKnight sounds familiar. Hey, cool, what's this? Is that your horn?"
Me: "Uh, no, that's the siren for the pager alarm."
Buddy: "Oh, you've got an alarm? Cool."
Me: "Uh, okay then. You two guys take it easy, I'm gonna go walk around with my wife and check out some other rides."
Red: "Yeah, when I'm done with my neon, I want it to be the first right hand steering, rear wheel drive Neon and the electric turbo I'm getting is gonna give me 25% more horsepower."
Me: Uh, Okay then again. Good luck with your plans, it'll definitely be a unique ride." I'm gonna go ahead and go look at some cars now. Peace."
Red: "That's cool,I wanna find the guy that owns that SRT4 over there anyway. When I get my turbo hooked up, I'm gonna race him and spank his ass with it."
