I am going to have to agree with the rest of the guys on this... being here in FL where we see alot of theft .. especially Hondas. Really don't hear about the accords but it has happened. I think that the MR thread should be a privileged place to see. 100 posts is a good number.

I agree.. 90-93 accords are still very popular with thieves, thus everyone should limit what they put on their members ride.. Also making it password protected gets my vote..

I agree, there should be a post count requirement for the Members' Rides forum but I don't think the time between posts should be adjusted. It's not that hard to tell if someone's just postwhoring and Deev should just delete either the posts or even the poster.

All good ideas. I haven't added much to the MR thread because of this very concern. In fact, I have been thinking about deleting it. I know most of the would be thieves, or those that have a history as such, in my town, but god forbid they decide to start traveling around.

I personally think 100 is too low. anyone can achieve 100 posts in about 3 months. Thats way too soon for earning the trust of someone and trust them around your car.

I remmeber when the noob forum first arrived the needed post count was 100....then it got lowered the the 30.....i think if it were raised it would help combat the post whoring to get to 30....as has been mentioned its easy to post whore to 30.....but itd take some dedication to post whore to 100

Im just glad I live in an area where not too many people a) tune anything....b) would shop online looking for shit to steal.....theyd have to search damn hard to find anything worth stealing in my town

Man shit. Thats why EVERYBODY needs to get an alarm with a pager. I got cameras outside of my house that are pointed at the street and at my car. It beeps loud and a flood light pointed at my car turns on if it senses a little bit of movement. Done caught one at my old house and I peppered his tail gate on his way out. And plus if you tell people you are crazy as hell sometimes they will beleive you and not come around being a snoop. Accords really dont get stolen as much as Civics....but it dont stop some crack head from stealing your radio or entire audio system. But like I said...an alarm is the cheapest and most effective way to go. They cost less than what you will lose to a thief or worse.

And as far as the post count goes. I wouldnt know what a good post count would be. It really should be a post at your own risk type of deal but if the post count was set to high then people who actually own a thread in that section with less than the post count then they prob wont be able to edit it. I mean its not hard for a theif to get 500 post over the months. I watched on tv that people scout a certain location for months before they rob it. And honestly we dont have much of a theif problem on here. Its those boys who own civics and tegs who have to sleep with one eye open at night. But whatever deev decides to do is fine with me. And I promise you nothing will stop a theif. If they really want something THEY ARE GOING TO GET IT WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT.

I agree with adding to the post count and putting a password for the mr and other automotive section, I also agree to the whole site being unviewable by non-members.

The only concern I have is for those dedicated theives that do stay for the post count, I mean if they spend enough time on this website they will realize what parts are going to net them the most cash if stolen. They might see past petty radios, and speakers and little things like that and really hit us where it hurts, you know what I mean?

we have new comers that lurk around all the time but only register when they see Cars that are inspirational and also good info and new ideas .

to take that away from the legit lurkers because some feel like their cars are unsafe is not right ( my .02)
MR Section should be " Post Your info at your Own Risk" .
If you can't protect your Car well that's your ass(that's why there are alarm system,kill switch,lojack, ect... just like The JDM parts )
we all know our cars attract the thieves from the get go .
Shit thieves are everywhere,

To some degree that is true, and anybody who knows anything about Hondas and theft should take other extra precautions as well. But, the sad reality of it is that many people aren't necessarily lurking legitimately. One of the sights here in AZ became a big issue because that is where the thiefs were shopping, and in some cases, they were well known and respected members of the community. I never posted anything there, but that was the reality of it. If something hot showed up on there, or it was taken to certain shops, all of a sudden, it disappeared. It might not be right, but it is true. Don't know how much that plays here, but do we really all want to find out?
