Thats true, and many other restrictions including waiting 10 days to get the gun after purchase. But in terms of getting a gun, it's not difficult unless you are a criminal.

I had an oppurtunity to pick up a brand new SC model but my hands are too big for it to be comfortable. I was initially looking at them for the wife and I to both shoot, but the size was a deal breaker for me.

I wouldn't mind, But I think I'll stick with my current .45. Don't wanna take a chance on buying a less nice handgun. I already trust this one. But to anyone looking to buy a springfield XD, one more satisfied customer checking in.

LOL. Not quite. If you want to buy an illegal firearm I'm sure it's easier than the hoops you have to jump through in Cali... Don't get me started

          You can't have a felony.
I think those are the only restrictions.
no see we cant get the good guns, you know what i mean? i.e. Auto Assault riffle, .50cal hand guns, and all that good stuff.

Is there any particular reason you need a gun anyway?

                  Reasons I own a firearm:
                  1) God help the man who tries to break into MY house
                  2) God help the man who tries to kidnap MY offspring
                  3) It's a healthy thing to spend money on. Not drugs, not cigarettes. If my gun kills me, it's MY fault.
                  4) It's fun. Have you ever fired a handgun? Just shooting at paper targets is a rush because you know what kind of power you have in your hands.
                  5) Competitions-Just like my rifles, shotguns, and bows, once I get good with my .45 I fully intend to compete with it. Competitions are another excellent way to polish and fine tune your skills, and the pro's will SURELY have some advice.

There's more floatin around my brain but right now I just want a shower.

                    Valid points.
No I've never fired a hand gun, as they are illegal to own here.
Also Fully automatic weapons are only allowed to be owned by Collectors, and competition shooters.

As soon as I turn 21 I am getting a CWP and carrying a gun everywhere I go. Me being as skinny as I am I cant really defend myself so if my life is threatened I know where to reach.

And I have heard that most of Europe the citizens are unallowed to have fire arms. I met a guy from scotland and I let him hold my shotgun and he didnt know what to do with it. He was sooo excited he got to hold an actual real gun. But here no matter what people are going to have guns and nobody is going to stop them. People have them for fun and others have them for protection. You guys cross the pond wouldnt know much about that.

Springfield armory makes an XDm which is meant to be match grade - check it out sometime.

Also, make sure that you are keeping that gun safe and out of reach for kids. In some/most? states if a kid is shot or shoots someone with their parent's gun, the parent gets arrested. Guns are great but we have to be responsible gun owners.

Before you get your CCW or LTCF, read up on laws and the legality of carrying. You NEED to do this before you even buy a handgun in my opinion. I had a Glock that I kept in my car. I didn't know any laws regarding that pistol. I really could have gotten in some trouble over that.

If you feel the need to carry a weapon you need to know the related laws to your state.

In a lot of places shotguns and rifles are still legal. I have friends in Germany and England who hunt.

And my dad just ordered the XDm .40 and told me it would be "our little secret" from mom haha. He told me if I got good with the .45 I could have the XDm too and use that one for matches. That's a few years down the road though, I have a lot to learn.
