It's not easy to find a cheap datsun z shell...
I think it would be easier to find a 1st or 2nd gen RX-7 but I think the 1st gen is ugly and seems like people want too much for 2nd gens...
Camaro shells seem easy to find... I wonder how much a small block chevy swap into a v6 camaro would cost...

A small block in the V6 F body is a major undertaking, I'm told. The whole engine bay is different.

Ppl dump on the C-series V6s but u could easily get a junk 5spd 1st gen Legend, type-II motor + ECU and CB shell for like $2000 I think

        There u go

        V6 CB

          find a mk1 mr2 (84-89) $500
          Buy a 4agze $600-1200
then find an sc14 supercharger off a prieva van $100

and boom you have a 200-250ish whp car (depending on other mods)

Of course the car itself may need a lot of work for $500 but I've seen them cheaper than that.

So what is your over budget budget? You know if you go through with this youre going to spend over 2gs. I say just find something you like and make something different. If you had a high budget I would like to see an awd CB.

I would go with a G-body car over the f-body, since the G has a full frame. Small block chevys are cheap to build.

interesting idea.. the legend with the type-II motor ran like low 14s stock...
I think it would be over 2Gs to do this swap in a CB though unless I get REALLY good deals on everything

well i know I will end up spending more than 2K.. but I would like at least the car and all major parts to be around 2K...

                Actually I'm leaning towards a 1st gen rx-7 shell - around $200, rebuild a ford or chevy V8 -$500, rx-7 V8 conversion kit w/ driveshaft - $400... and spend the rest on a turbo setup... maybe
oh and it weighs as much as a Civic

why turbo when you can make lots of power NA?

it's going to be track so put a set of vortec heads or small CC camel humps? this will raise the compression.

check out claimer parts for SBC. it's super cheap but race worthy parts. Claimer pistons, claimer heads etc...

There's actually someone here where I live that is selling a 1st gen Rx7 with, i think, a 350 in it for $500. It does need a new flex plate to be driveable and then it also has several cosmetic issues, but its cheap and it's already swapped.

thanks for the links!... reason why I am thinking turbo is because usually it is a better hp/dollar ratio but idk I'm still undecided so I may go NA too.... LT1 in a light RWD chassis (rx-7), would be so badass. I need to do more research on SBC

Get a v-dub like an older Golf and swap in a Caddy Northstar v8.

I like all the ideas, keep em coming guys.

Another idea is I could build a 400+whp EF with 2Gs and probably even have some money left over lol... but it wouldn't be RWD..
