Seriously though.. How much does that desert eagle go for. And why is it a "bad" choice

What would you recommend for a sub 100lb female...? We are going to the range to rent something soon to see what she can handle
im guessing on the cost of a round lol and the price of the gun itself i wouldnt be supprised if a round cost over $1 each and the gun it self is clost to 2k lol its a foot long haha 50% more power then a 44 mag

edit: yup i found the price of a .50 deagel round lol $1.50 per round

My father has a Springfield 1911. Beautiful gun.

I think I'm more sold on an XD now... The SR9 is cheaper, but its less gun as well.

Maybe a Glock... Not sure yet... Still need to do more research on Glocks before I can say anything about them.

Go and hold all of them, shoot them if you can...THEN make your choice, whats good for some might not be good for you.

They are all decent choices to start with

I just read a lot about the XD .45 ACP... I'm pretty sold right now. It's a little more money than the Ruger, but I think it will be a better gun through the years.

I'm only 18, so I can't legally hold on with out my dad there and he doesn't always have time. Otherwise I'd be doing that now haha.

My father told me if I can get the money together, he'll go get it for me. I'm 100% my father when it comes to gun rights and the right to protect myself in a situation that may be necessary to use a firearm. He's always told me that he hopes to God I never have to use one to defend myself, but by God should need be he's gonna make damn sure I know how.

I can shoot damn near any gun you put in my hands with deadly precision. Moving targets, stationary, anything. But I figure if I'm sleeping one night and I hear someone breaking into my home, I'm not going to go hunt them down with my target guns. I'm gonna grab my handgun to protect my family. I think tomorrow I may go to D&H guns in Woodstock. The guy knows my dad, he won't have a problem letting me hold on. He may even let me go out back and fire a few rounds through it.

I didn't read all the post , so if it's already been covered sorry . First , a Glock 18 cannot be owned by non military or law enforcement . The glock 18 is the select fire version on the 17 which wasn't imported til after the 86 ban on machine guns . A G17 is the same gun , but in semi only form . As far a Glock's being ugly - I agree . I thought Glocks were the ugliest guns on there til the XD's came along . The Glock for the cost , quality and reliability has always been my choice , with that being said I admit I currently carry a full size USP 45 . My preference for Glocks comes from their trigger mechanism , 1st shot last shot has the same trigger pull and reset , a double single action ( like the SIG ) has a long heavy first pull , short reset then lighter single action pull for the rest of the mag . IMO a trigger mechanism like the Glock ( maybe the XD , I've never owned one ) is easier for someone to shoot well and stay in practice with . If you plan on shooting allot then the single double action isn't bad ( I shoot the USP about 100 rds a week in 3 to 5 shot drills starting in the holster with the hammer down ) What ever you decide to go with , shoot it and stay in practice . Get a good holster ( even if you don't plan on carrying it and practice shooting from a draw and off handed . God forbid you ever have to use it for defence but if you do owning it doesn't make you ready , practice does and gun fights don't go down in idea circumstances so standing 15 yd from a target in the daylight with your gun ready isn't going to help you much . Hope I don't get flamed , but the decision you are making is very serious and bullets don't just hit bad guys .

You say the first comment, then contradict it with the last....I was just saying that if it is for protection it's import you have good "FEEL" for the weapon. But hey, what do I know....

Just a random thought the popped into my head:

I thought you were broke and could barely make rent or somethign?

Not doubting you or anything, just curious if the situation has improved.

Anything here is nice. My brother has the Five Seven and it's a very nice weapon. Anything that penetrates over 40 layers of Kevlar gets my home protection seal of approval!

oh no, I mean he knows my father really well, so I can roll down there alone and check it out. He knows I can handle my weapons very well.

Haha, penetrating 40 layers of kevlar = a bloody bullet hole in my hallway should some scumbag try to steal from me or harm my family.
