    Honda Recalling 400,000 Cars!

    http://www.lethbridgeherald.com/content/view/81357/27/

TORONTO - Honda is recalling 50,000 cars in Canada and almost 400,000 in the United States because of an airbag problem.

The automaker is expanding a recall that was issued last November.

Honda says the driver's steering wheel-mounted airbag inflator in some sedans can rupture because of too much pressure, causing metal fragments to shoot through the airbag and possibly hitting occupants.

The automaker says one fatality and a number of injuries have been linked to the defect.

In Canada, the expanded recall covers certain 2001 and 2002 Accords, Civics, and Acura ELs, as well as a small number of 2002 and 2003 Acura TLs.

Honda says it will contact affected customers, and replace the airbag free of charge.
Well, today we got the first car, and it surely wont be the last.
I still cant believe a person died cause of this
Took a couple pics of the procedure...

You've got to remove and discard the old locknuts, you take them off using vice grip. (Since they have a weird shape to them)
The new locknuts are 10mm, you have to tighten them to 34in.lbs.

It was featured on CNN already. Hope this doesn't hurt Honda's sales.

It pays half an hour, but you can be done in like 15mins literary.

You may get a letter about it or just call the dealer and provide your VIN.

just in case other people can't see it. the following VIN numbers are on recall. i'm hoping everyone knows their vin numbers by now. if not, it's located at the bottom of the dashboard/windshield on the passenger side.

In some vehicles, airbag inflators can produce over-pressurization of the driver's (front) airbag inflator mechanism during airbag deployment. If an affected inflator deploys, the increased internal pressure may cause the inflator casing to rupture. Metal fragments could pass through the cloth airbag cushion material, possibly causing an injury or fatality to vehicle occupants.

                          Look at the pictures.

Imagine a piece of metal gets you right between the eyes
