just spent like 30min trying to find something but all i came up with is stuff for the police in Britain. wtf?

anyone know of any words or phrases i can use to search for this stuff? i want to know what a cop can/can't do while in my presence. like what he can and cant say, what he can and can't do and stuff like that.

btw: ive already searched using the title of the thread. lol.

Then honestly, you kind of have to stay within them. People can argue with me all day long but a lot of police officers do a lot of things they aren't allowed to do.

Which is why you can't find any rules and regulations on it.

You can look up code of conduct in your area though.

its not about things they arent allowed to do. i just want to know for myself in case the time comes upon me where an officer decides he wants to use me to make himself feel good because he had a bad day.

for the most part i know about my personal rights if i were to get pulled. i know officers arent allowed to follow me for no more than a mile without justifiable cause and they cant search my car unless they have reason to believe that i have something illegal in there.

I know a few things... in example just say you are casually walking down the street, an officer walks up and asks for your name or identification... according to my Brother who is an officer in Montgomery... you are not required to give them your information unless they have a probable cause to suspect you of some wrong-doing.

yeah. id look at the cop funny and ask why. a cop out of nowhere just ask me for my ID, id have to ask why and if theres probable cause for him to ask for it.

http://ckcounterpunch.wordpress.com/...-basic-rights/ (it was written by englishmen in europe but it all applies to us too)

thats good imformation on your rights...

but about the walking thing.. if a cop walks up to you and he asks you for your identification card or who you are.. you do not have to give him it or tell him anything because that is your right to remain silent... inlese he gives you his reasoning for stopping you and asking you for those things do not say a single word to him
You don't have to like what he did, but I would hope that you can appreciate the time, money and love that went in to the build. If you can't, you're not really an enthusiast, just another dumb kid with a car.-visualpoet

if you get pulled over ,
and the officer asks you if you know how fast you were going . . .

                    ALWAYS reply , " no " .
self incrimination is a bitch .

Ive been pulled over and had my truck and myself searched because of a brake light/tail light out (cant remember witch one) Is that really probable cause for a search of my personal belongings? I dono maybe it is but not in my eyes....lol

nope i dont thing so...i've been pulled over because supposedly my license plate light isnt working. They were just profiling me cuz i was bald. But they didnt search me or my car. They just wanted to see if i had warrants but im clean.

And yes if a officer asked you "do you know how fast you were going" ALWAYS SAY "NO!". They stated this on the infamous Gumball 3000 cross country. There's always lawyers and judges that races in the Gumball 3000.

Oh and if you get pulled over, Take the keys out, put it on your roof, and put both hands on the steering wheel, and if its at night turn on your dome light. I've done this 3 times already, and when the officer ask me "why i did that?" i just tell him "its a safety precaution, so you can see that i have nothing to hide".

Hmmm if an officer asks you how fast you were going, I always say the speed limit, even if i was going 20 over.

I would think that putting your keys on the roof and both hands on the wheel, gives the cop suspicion. Even if you really do have nothing to hide, he'll think its a tactic. The best bet is to just sit and be yourself; be patient; respectful and complient. 9/10 times you know you were speeding. What YOU do has no power over the cop. Its all up to him. If he's feeling generous, you're lucky. If he feels like being a dick, you get a ticket.

And TBH, if you get a ticket, he's not being a dick, he's doing his job. He's paying his bills. He's feeding his families.

Its simple really; if you dont want tickets, dont speed or invest in a very good detector.

And while cops may or may not profile, if you get pulled over "for no reason", take it with a grain of salt. Unless you're in an extremem hurry, it'll only take a few moments. And if they didnt profile or randomly pick ppl, there'd be criminals on the loose all over. Believe it or not, its those little things like "profiling" that catch alot of criminals.

Im not siding with the police, im just saying that as ive gotten older, ive come to respect them and learn that theyre only doing their job. Granted some are dicks and enjoy fucking with ppl, but as long as im not breaking any laws, i get the last laugh.

Im curious as to why you wanna know what you can/cant do in the presence of a cop... Do you wanna take it right to the edge? You dont have over-step your boundary for a cop to be a dick. Like i said, he may have been feeling nice, but then you went and said something edgy or just inside the line, and oh, look who's getting a ticket now...

You do have rights, you know those. "The right to remain silent..." everyone knows that whole shpeel. I dont think there are set rules as to what a cop "Can and cannot do in the presence of a civilian". Their job is to uphold the law. Sometimes at whatever costs, be it your life or theirs.

My advice; grow up. Dont do stupid things just to push a cop to the limit or over the edge, for whatever reason, especially "police brutality". It just wont work.

IMHO, this thread is asking, "How much can i get away with before he'll hit me or pull his gun on me?" or "If i egg him on, how far is too far?"

Like i said, grow up. Show some respect.

EDIT: Im not trying to be a dick, i just hate seeing ppl fucking with cops, and then they wonder why they pick on us. Normal ppl speed and race too. We' have a bad name for a reason, so please dont tarnish further.
