What's with this obsession of removing AC and/or cruise control?

I believe in keeping every option the car came from the factory in working condition. I have a H22 swap with working A/C, PS, and Cruise. It's so easy to keep those things. I think most people who remove them do so because they simply don't know how to keep them with the swap, or are just plain lazy. Then they make excuses for it, saying this and that...."grow a pair" whatever. I rarely use cruise control...only when driving over 100 miles on the freeway. But it's there, it came from the factory and had a price tag associated with it, so I'll keep it in working condition. And the only thing you need to do to keep it after the swap is re-connect the damn vacuum line.

The more you take off the car the more ghetto and Junk Yard status your car becomes. Thats my opinion though, but I will say that cars with clean ass wire tucks are the exemption to this.

How much hp are you gonna gain by removing these things? I doubt you will run a 1/4 in the 13s thats for sure. And that would still be slow if you did.

Nice to see some people believe in amenities.

Deev, I think we all know you get a free pass due to laziness.

I think that 4CYLPOWER92 pretty much echoes my sentiments. Aside from trailer queens (whether they be show cars or track whores) there's no good reason to remove these items.

how about the fact that i wont compromise for what i want out of my car.... i want it to be all around, exactly like i want it. that doesnt include some of the amenities... so why should i go out of my way to keep them? so u will approve?

not to mention that its a damn 91 accord, if i wanted amenities, id buy a nice car.

            good enough reason for me.

a few pounds here and there all add up. it's like building a race motor. a deburr and chamfer can go a long way. it's what makes them so expensive.

I'm w/ the OP. I've got ALL my accessories: AC PS CC. I can't live w/o it. Especially the AC. Do you know how HOT AZ gets in the summers? right now, just 2 days ago, Chandler got up to 117*F.....do you know how hot that is? really? prob. hot enough to fry an egg on your hood. If you don't have AC you won't survive AZ summers period, maybe up north where its 5000ft or above, but not in the valley.

My PS was a bitch to deal w/ when I swapped my H22, i'll let everyone know that much. I had to have a custom line made, Accord rear section w/ a crimped on Prelude front section to make it clear everything. I also didn't know for the longest time, that you HAVE to use the Prelude crank pulley, otherwise the belt for the PS will be off by 1 rib and you'll shred belts constantly. Prelude=5 ribs, Accord = 4 ribs. I went through about 4 belts before i realized this.

Another thing I figured out, upon replacing my Alt. this past weekend w/ a Prelude one since it puts out 95 amps vs 80 amp I had in my Accord, is you either have to use ALL Prelude stuff (crank, AC and Alt) for the pulleys or in my case I have prelude crank, Accord Alt. and AC pulleys. That's the only combo(s) that seem to work. Using the prelude alt. pulley w/ Accord AC doesn't work and shreds belts I found out.

So yeah i can understand the hassles, but once its all working...its great. Having a nice DD is what I'm all about, I won't settle until its all working perfect. It just takes a bit of effort thats all.

But taking a perfectly working AC system out of anything but an all out track car is pointless, esp. in our CB7s. WHY some people do it is beyond me.

i took mine out because the A/C didnt work when i got it and the P/S is kinda pointless to me. i mean as long as you keep your car moving then you can turn the wheel with little to no effort. and like someone said already, if i wanted stuff like that then id buy a car that wouldnt strain to use that stuff.

my car is 17 years old. ill be ok.

my cruise control never worked , so i'm not used to having it anyways .
you'll survive without power steering in a cb7 , my land rover NEEDS power steering .as for ac , i wouldn't remove it if it was fully working . but thats me .

but what i've seen being preached often on cb7tuner is why people would remove the " amenities " in their cb . . .

                      to each his own .
i love the clean engine bay look . if someone could find a way to hide everything and still have it functional that'd be sick .

They have electric pwr steering pumps, Cruise can be modified to be inside the cabin. As for ac, maybe you could make bracket for a smaller compressor with custom lines that are hidden.

I had a hydraulic coupler put in the high pressure line, and am using all Accord crank/alt pulleys. And it was 105 at 5K and above, and Havasu was above 120.

You don't do no A/C in AZ, even if it means you have the slowest car ever.

took my ac out because i had to fit a very large turbo. i dont use CC at the track so that went too. PS had to go for room to install IC piping.
