8 Dead in NY's Taconic Pkwy Accident.

Pretty horrible, I work somewhat close to where this happened and I'm hearing lots of different things from different local and state law enforcement.

Man, that really is sad.

I wonder what caused her to do that... that's not a mistake even a bad driver would usually make. Certainly not at a deadly speed. Going the wrong way is often accompanied by slow, unsure actions.

Coming back from a camping trip. Camping with 4 little kids. Maybe the woman hadn't slept in days... Such a shame.

It probably hasn't even hit him yet. Something this drastic hits someone in waves... Hopefully he has a strong group of family and friends to support him.

I feel bad for the relatives as well... Some of the other kids were neices and nephews, I believe... someone else in the family just lost their kids too.


I'm not a parent... I couldn't even imagine how it must feel to lose a child, or worse, more than one child. No parent should ever have to witness the deaths of their children.

i had read about this and i am just as perplexed as to how she could have been going down the wrong way like that. maybe she did fall asleep, out camping up all night they decide to go home early in the morning every one is groggy one false turn on am seemingly empty road and bam. such a shame so many people had to died.

I can't even begin to imagine the hell he is going through.

This is such a delicate situation. I truly feel for the families who lost loved ones in the wreck, yet all together I feel mad at the mother. If your tired, take a nap. If your stressed, cool off. Driving is dangerous and requires you to pay attention. It's very similar to alcohol. If you drink you should be responsible and not drive, or get a friend to drive. Drunk drivers kill people too. There are a million different factors that could have played into this horrible outcome. But ultimately she was the one driving the wrong way. This isn't fair to the kids who lost their lives, the people in the other vehicle who died, and worse of all the pain in a husband left behind with nothing but a son in critical condition. There were no hugs goodbye, no last words. His world has just shattered. I feel for him the most!

Autopsy results are back from the driver that caused this horrific accident, and turns out she was drunk and high, extremely irresponsible for someone taking care of young children.

damnnn thats crazy. i feel for the husband that lost his family. and of course the other families that lost there loved ones. its crzy how she was drunk and high wit 5 kids wit her. she must have been under some serious stress. but could it have been the 1st time she drove under those circumstances is the question. who knows if this has happened b4 but just not so serious. no matter what the mother and kids that were in the minivan had a good campin trip while the mother was tryin to hide from her saddness or anger. who knows the truth but that innocent ppl were killed.

I wonder if she intentionally got drunk and high, or if she somehow did it unintentionally. I don't know how that would be possible, but if one can believe that she'd intentionally drive impaired with children, then perhaps it's not totally unbelievable that she was somehow drugged. I don't know how... but if she made a call saying she was disoriented, it sounds to me as if she didn't know what happened to her...

If she was partying before leaving... it's a shame she died in the crash. It seems like a quick death isn't punishment enough for such carelessness. She should have to spend the rest of her life in prison, knowing that she killed a number of children in her family.
