    New Car: Daihatsu Mira L500S

I drove the car for the first time today. It's officially mine. I'm not sure of the specs exactly. What I do know is that it's a 660cc 3cyl engine. It's real light - about 1200 lbs. It's a 3 door, navy blue hatch back. I'm going to paint the rims and trim copper I think.

I'll try to get some pictures up soon

Do some calculations with the weight... figure out what the power to weight ratio is compared to a CB7 It weighs half of a driverless CB7 with you IN the car... so that has to mean something! I believe Kei cars are capped at 63hp or something, and I'm SURE it doesn't even make that much.

Still, I bet it'll be fun to roll around in!

I was thinking... do some suspension mods instead of engine mods. You'll NEVER make that thing fast... but if you increase the handling ability, it could still be lots of fun. My Fit is slow as balls, but it handles well. Going from the powerful GTP to the slow Fit, you'd think I miss the power... and I do... but the handling makes up for it quite a bit!

Good point but suspension wont get me up hills faster :P Now I can tinker with it anyway. The filter looks like it needs a cleaning and the oil needs changing. Tranny fluid also should be changed.

I saw some K&N filters online - maybe that'd be worth getting.

Oh yeah, the turbo version only has about 55hp so this must have about 40 something.

Alright, I'm having a few problems finding more info about this. If anyone has free time (and hasn't been drinking) have at it.

The car is a Daihatsu Mira

        L500S-035703

        E-L500S

        EF (engine code?)

        .65L

        640kg

Specifically, I cant find the date of mfg. Doesn't much matter because I know the engine size. I'm just curious to see if I can find more information about this car.

Yeah, I can't find the year. Any ideas as to how I can figure it out? Maybe use the VIN?

            Does Japan have Carfax?

I guess the title situation isn't like it is in the US... it'd be easy to look on your title for the year here.

Yeah, I've looked through the papers and there's nadda. They gave me a code after L500S but it does not come up on any google searches. I know it's at least 94 but not sure any more than that.
