    Any bike experts???

    Bicycles that is

I've been recently getting back into bikes again and wanted to know if anybody's got any insight on wat brands are good and wat not.

Im more of a mountain bike guy, road bikes are cool but they just don't seem too practical...

BTW, I already picked up my own bike (Older Schwinn from a co-worker) but its always good to get others opinions...

Some good brands are Norco, Banshee, Giant, IronHorse and Transition. A good website to learn and checkout bikes (or even buy) is www.Pinkbike.com

Heres my bike lol 2006 Banshee Scream frame and all aftermarket parts

edit: Schwinn is an OK brand, I use one for Dirtjumping and some park riding.

I bought this bike called an Iron Horse Quantum II and its been rock solid since I've owned it. Cost me 350 at Sports Authority and comes w/ loads of features.

            -Jet black
            -4" travel front fork
-Hayes MX4 Disc brakes front and rear (6" diameter)
            -24 speed rapid fire shifters
-Aluminum frame, pretty light, I'd say 25 lbs

Good bike for the money. Check out their lineup, it might be called something else by now since I bought it 2 yrs ago, but All my friends envy it because its blacked out everything and stops on a dime.

my friend works at a bike store in Cape Mo. He deals a lot with road bikes, mountain, and fix gears. Honestly it all depends on what you want to do with your bike. His weighs 13lbs in all. Wheels shifters, tires everything. He cant take it down cliffs or anything like that from what he was telling me a decent durable road bike can do almost anything.

Don't rule out road bikes unless you have to.

As much as I loved my childhood Specialized Hardrock Comp FS, I'm liking my Klein Aura V even more.

Well if ur talking about the model, its a highplains. its really old (94 old) but i've ridden it a couple times already and holds up just fine...

Losiracer2, that sounds like a hell of a deal for what you got... I've heard plenty of good things about Iron Horse too, might have to look into them next time around

Thanks for the link 1990accordex-r. I'll check it out ASAP. BTW, your bike looks expensive lol. Yea, Schwinn probably isn't that great but my co-worker gave me a decent deal on it and it was better than anything else I could find on CL...
