Why does everybody think their car is worth gold?

Seriously. I've been looking at a lot of cars (duh), and some people think their car is worth tons and tons of money.

    Take this, for instance.

2000 BMW 528i. Bluebook in EXCELLENT condition is $7,063.00

    They want $11K...

I called them and asked why it was so much, and they said that's what they feel it's worth. I understand feeling that my car may be worth, TO ME, way more than bluebook...but I'm not trying to sell my car to myself. Someone who just wants an automobile isn't going to pay $4,000 over bluebook for a 9 year old car.

    Or maybe someone will.

This car has been on the market for 2+ months.

Why won't people just accept the fact that their cars aren't worth what they used to be, thanks to the economy?

sentimental value dosent mean shit to anyone. I mean, it looks like he took good care of it and probably a one owner car but still overpriced. He just trying to get more then he can.

Exactly. Sentimental value means the world to the seller, but the buyer couldn't care less, and it's DEFINITELY a buyers market right now.

I told them to call me if it sits for another two months.

Has it been 11K for the last 2 months, or was it originally more?

Sure, the car looks great. But, I don't think anyone in their right mind would pay more than 8K.

hes probably preppin for the low-ballers. That way when they talk him down he fall to the 7.5 to 8 k hes probably seeking.
Cause we all know when you sell a car you sell it a little over the top that way when they ask to low it it you hopefully come to that price you really want because you know your not going to get the price that your originally askin for.
