i just applied for a 1,000 dollar credit increase on my credit card today and it got accepted.. i was like yes!!! because i may be getting out the mil in 4 days. i wanted a little backup money just in case.

... i have been in your predicament..i was given a 2500 dollar credit limit on what the military calls a star card that can be used pretty much everywhere on base..a card that most privates apply for... i used that thing for everything, gas, food, cd's?!? i used to buy CD's lolz.... i dont know what i was thinking like it was free money... i finally paid it off like years afterwards.... after it hit collections

that first credit card is always a bitch especially in your late teens early 20's when you dont have basic financial skills

Aside from 2 or 3 medical bills, all being right around $1000, i have a t-mobile bill, a sprint bill, a cingular bill(in the $2k range...dont ask how) and a checking account and Commerce.

Sprint is willing to accept like $100.
T-mobile is willing to accept like $250.

I just wait until the collections come to me and settle for less. Sure it helps having a checking account, but ive gotten by so far. I dont need a cecking acct for my insurance.

Will, i hope things turn over for you. I know how it feels.

Well, the only thing I can do is pay the 200 bucks on Friday and get my letter that says the debt is paid off and they will never contact me again.

P.S. These collections have been all at once. I paid the 448.76 then the one for 1100 for the credit card 2 weeks later, then recently I just paid off my 2234 dollar apartment debt that my old room mate skipped town on and left me with.

This is why I've had no money to put towards the CB.

wait a minute he or she your roommate left you with the rent? okay when you signed the lease whos name was it under i hope not just yours. becasue if it was both of you and he or she skipped out.

Isnt that abandonment and can you take that to court and have the collectors just go after them for that. Nothing worse than being stuck with a bill like that.

Ok, Background time. Matthew Weidner and I lived in an apartment together before he turned up to have child porn on his computer and be a cross dresser. He wanted out because I did things that he couldn't stand because he has OCD, like having the windows closed in the summer time when the AC is set to 55 (his doing).

Anyway, we got out of the apartment but he didn't plan on the 30 days notice before you leave. So I was jobless at the end and I figured it wasn't a big deal since we were paid up. Turns out listening to him was a bad move because he comes back and says we have to pay another months rent. Well, that's one month to get our stuff out.

In the month I get my things out day by day and work my ass off too. He's out with friends having a BBQ and on the last day he calls me up and asks for my help moving his things out. I'm pissed. He didn't help me, and here he is asking for help. So I help him *I'm a nice guy* and he throws out my Kill Bill poster which is the 5 foot high one which was a gift from my deceased relative. It just keeps getting worse.

Then were out and they slam us with cleaning / painting / and carpet fees since when I was on vacation to Disney world with a friend, he decided to leave the apartment with his cat to go help hurricane Katrina victims. His cat died in the apartment and they could never get the smell out.

So we're out and all of a sudden he has child porn on his computer, this is it for me. I call him out and he cries to his dad who threatens to put me behind bars for a long time because he works closely to a few cops and FBI agents. Finally I say we're cool (WE ARE NOT COOL BTW) and he leaves. I stopped talking to him but found out that he has made no effort to pay off this apartment.

            IMPORTANT!!!!
I get the information on the apartment after I pay it off. It turns out that Matthew Weidners signature is on the paper work but mine isn't. It's typed in. But no where in there does my hand writing appear.

These things just keep happening and I feel so down and depressed because I keep trying to dig myself out from my past and start new and get into school and get my car working but it's almost like life doesn't want me to.

i have debt just like you guys that I got from credit cards in my early 20,s. I owe a couple credit cards, I owe bank of america, I owe washingston mutual and sprint. I now also have like a $500 medical bill. The only difference is that I dont give a fuck and im not interested in paying them at all. I have 2 active checkings, 1 active savings(its great having family in the bank), about 4 active credit cards in good standing so i dont care about paying off the other shit until I start getting paid really well.

As for paying debt collectors, make sure you get everything in writing and make sure they sent you a signed document stating that the debt will be removed from your report upon final payment because if you dont you WILL have duplicate shit on your report showing that you owe like 5 collectors for the same debt(believe when I say so) and then it will be a hell for you to dispute and have all removed.
