When I say the wheel well part, I mean the part that goes down to the side skirt. Rust formed where the side side was molded because it traps moisture in there, and it makes it rust since it's not sealed under the body filler.

All of the orange is where it was cut out and all new metal was welded in.

really? damn thats exactly what i need replaced, but i need that replaced because lol, the metals rotted so bad its gone. that will be done this spring. see i thought when you said whell well, i thought you ment the underside, thanks for the detailed pic, but yea your cars really coming along, and that new pearl white paint is gonna set it off. cant wait man keep the pics rollin......




by the way did u cut metal and shape it to fit or did u get another quarter panel off another car or something like that? thanks again.

There are about 5 pieces per side that are formed for the car, and they are all welded together and sealed. We blasted all the old metal after the rust was cut out, and sprayed it so rust won't form from the moisture, and welded it in there.

There's metal boot type things where the side skirts meet.. it looks stock.

what's up man. i am in that situation right now. just welded something and i don't know what to use for rust prevention before i use the body filler.
so what did u use? the car is really coming alone.

Just grind the weld lines down all the way and get all the dirt and everything out from between the metal and the body of the car.

Once that is cleaned out then prime in there and seal it if you can. Primer likes to form rust since it's never really sealed because paint needs to be applied on top of the sealer.

Just get the junk out from between the body and metal before you go over it with body filler, then properly paint the section that is being repainted.

Did you also replace the inner wheel well...like the liner? When i get my quarters installed, I guess the inner wheel well has to be welded to the lip of the wheel arch. The quarter panels I have have all the welds drilled out, and there's a bunch of the welds drilled out on the lip, so I'm just wondering where you got the new inner wheel tubs, because I'm in need of those as well.

The base was sprayed at about 4:00pm today, then he laid another base coat down.. and the pearl will be sprayed about midnight tonight.

I'll get pics tomorrow, it looks gooooooooooooooooooood!!!!

I added a picture I took with my camera phone of the base coat white.. I haven't gotten to take a picture with the pearl with the digital camera but it's looking good!

Rear bumper will be on in about 5 days, and the headlights HOPEFULLY in a week. Then I'm throwing the new suspension on.

My rear bumper finally came in, along with the set of power folding mirrors I am using, my CC2 headlights, 2nd set of JDM side markers, and I thought I had a JDM license plate coming just for shows.. but I guess he hasn't sent it yet.

December 12th, 2004 UPDATE!

He started cutting the hood last night, so the completion date should be sometime by the weekend if I can get the chrome trim to go around the windows and get everything back together. I am going down there tonight with my friend to wire up the CC2 headlights and the yellow running light to my factory fog light switch.

NONE of the car has been wetsanded or buffed yet.. so it's going to look a lot deeper too!





















There is duraglass on the fenders because they didn't curve out far enough to line up with the door and there was a slight wave. But with the updated pictures.. you can see the body is straight this time and it's not wavy!
