I'm joining the military! (What do I do!?)

Obviously this thread is about me joining the military.

I'm taking the steps necessary, I think anyway. But I'm trying to get some inside info from someone thats been through it or going through it.

Some of the things I want to know are:
    1) What branch should I join?

    2) What MOS should I look into? (I'm thinking about an intelligence gig at the moment)

    3) What weight will they accept me at? I'm at 250 right now, but I'm working hard to get it down.

    4) What branch is the most rewarding as far as schooling, money, and future careers?

    5) I've heard that you almost have to negotiate your signing bonus. Is this true?

Those are my main questions, I'll probably have follow up questions after someone helps me out with these.

Sorry to whore up the forum with this stuff, but I haven't been able to get a concise answer on most of this stuff anywhere.

Most people join whatever branch they feel the most connection to... or the one that offers the opportunities they want.

My dad was Army. However, I'd probably go for the Air Force... mainly because I've always viewed the Air Force as the most demanding intellectually. That's not exactly true, as there are highly intelligent people in every branch, and there are plenty of specializations that require a sharp mind.

I'd say join the Navy. So you can be on a boat.

I'd say go and talk to different recruiters. They'll be more than happy to sit down and talk with you. I was looking joining not too long ago and still plan on it. I have some fines to pay for first though. Go take the ASVAB and once you have your scores they should be able to give you more definite answers about what you want to know.

                LOL.

I took the asvab in high school. I got an 81. Supposedly thats pretty good cause I was only like 16.

That was a long time ago though. So it won't count.

1 i think all branches are good, but i was in the marines so of course i will suggest being a marine
2 your last asvab was good, so practice a few times (go to the library and pick up an asvab practice book) the better the score the more options you have as far a what jobs to get
3 the recruiter will determine if you qualify, they have a chart that will tell them if you meet their requirements
4 i think the army gives you more bonuses because they are the biggest branch compared to the others so their budget would be bigger, but remember that its not all about the money,
5 they offered me a 35k bonus just so i would stay in the marines but turned it down because i preferred other options in my life

i hope that i may have helped a little and good luck with whatever you decide.
