Not the fastest in the turns, but it is pretty capable (have to be able to dodge the assassins afterall), it scoots and you can't beat the pull or sound of a V12. Plus, the S600 had a much upgraded interior over the lower level S classes which frankly are built like a 1983 Sentra.

Just hope to fuck it doesn't break.

Seriously though, E36 M3 in mint condish (just pay the little bit above your price range and you won't regret it) or an E46 model. Neither is terribly fast, but they are certainly fast enough, light, responsive and nimble. The E36 M3 is not that bad, as the "neutered" motor was much less complex and was very closely related to the regular straight six.

Honestly, it is the only car I think that meets all of your requirements. I just checked out a late model C230 Kompressor at the Honda dealer yesterday, and it was small, but not to shabby otherwise. Some of the plastic wasn't great, but it was better than their old stuff for sure. I wasn't afraid to touch stuff. LOL!

BMW 540i or 740i...just make sure they have the 4.4L or have had the engine replaced... those would also meet your requirements.
Owequitit, The Crossfire uses the 3.2 Kompressor engine out of the C320. Plus he can get one with super low miles. Deev I think part of what you're looking for is a more refined ride without the shutters of an old car (or an economy car) for that matter, or the road noise, or the lack of styling, etc.

If ya go back to a car with 100k+ miles on it, luxury or not, you're still not going to get the luxury ride of a newer car, or the quiet cabin, plus you won't be under the hood of it every weekend, and you can actually get to enjoy driving it.

I'm struggling with the same dilemma. I have to drive my car a lot, though. The accord is a little small for a baby seat, a 5 year old, two adults, and all of the nonsense needed for the baby. Forget laundry, or groceries. Oh, and those 5 bags of whatever that we always manage to need to pick up from the parents' every time we go over there.

I was looking at this: http://prescott.craigslist.org/cto/1196660306.html

But I was also thinking about this: http://prescott.craigslist.org/cto/1177341329.html

I'm currently driving a rental of the G6 and I have to say it kicks fucking ass. FWD or not. It's got 221hp, traction control, a VERY quiet cabin, and it's FUN to take through the twisties. It's also got enough trunk space for my 4x12 cabinet, and lots of room in the backseat, too. The Monsoon speaker system is great. Honestly, I'm excited about the possibility of owning one.

I just came from a Grand Prix GTP... FWD sucks, especially with a powerful V6 under the hood. It also didn't last 50,000 miles with me... and I performed all regular maintenance religiously.

Scott, I'll have to check out the Benz... That's a 92-98 model though, right? It's a bit old for something I intend to be reliable. And I would like to have something that someone could mistake for a "new" car.

An E46 is still probably the most up-to-date looking "older" car I can find.
The Crossfire, too, is very modern. If I could afford the SRT-6, I don't think there would be a question. That would have plenty of power, handling, styling, etc... But the SRT-6 still goes for nearly $10,000 more than my budget. That's not even an amount that I could talk myself into stretching for!

FWD cars are a no-go. I'm just tired of FWD, and I want something different. The only worthwhile FWD cars with any luxury and performance to them are Acuras anyway, and none of the Acuras in my price range interest me. The last model TL is the only one I MIGHT consider, and if it's not the S version, I'm really not all that interested either.

VR-4... tuner car. I don't want another tuner car. I don't want to look like a wannabe boy-racer in this car! I'd honestly rather have the midlife-crisis look of a Crossfire than the boy-racer look of a early to mid 90s Japanese tuner car... even if i DO like them.

S2000... I can't find one in my price range (nor an NSX... I've looked for those too). Those are the only Honda products I MIGHT consider. However, the S2000 is still a little toy-ish to me. I know the Miata is no better in that aspect, and is in fact less of a performance car... but the S2000s around here are ALL tuner cars. I won't feel like I'm driving a "nice" car... I'll feel like every highschooler in town will be waiting for me to slam it on some Rotas and throw on an exhaust (like the kid down the block from me that works at the tire store...)

Crossfire SRT-6 and E46 M3 would meet every need but the price. The S4 in any itteration would also meet it, but I'm wary about the reliability... and the newer ones aren't in my price range either.

The one suggestion here that I may truly look into is the SC300. They come in manual. They have the Lexus prestige. They perform well enough. They're comfortable and luxurious, while being sporty.
The only downsides are that they're old, and starting to look it... and they're BEGGING to be modified. I really DON'T want another project! That's the reason I'm looking for decent stock performance. If I can get a car in the 13s in stock form, I don't need to modify it.

Honestly deev, you have too many cars already. If you really want something nice I'd wait a while and spend some more.

I'm going to wait about a year and get a nice car for my proffession.

I'm thinking, dodge charger srt8, jeep cherokee srt8, or just a tahoe.

Deev what's your price range boss man?

I am in the same boat but have a smaller budget + am open to FWD

However if I *DID* have 10-12K w/o a doubt I would go with a 6 speed 540i. V8 power, legit handling, BMW chassis, $60K luxury... you get the interior of the E38 7 series w/a 6 speed and much less weight. Even the auto version is decent and would be equally fitting in the nature of the car. They're cheap enough that you could probably pick one up for 7-8K no problem. Just buy it from a decent owner.

The M3 is cool but seems to be more of a boy racer car. It will ride rougher and be louder. Not necessarily minuses if that's what you're looking for, but I think you can get basically the same performance with much more luxury for the same $$$

Another car to look at... 03-04 Infiniti M45s... I'm sure they're no BMWs but that's not necessarily bad. My dad has had one for about 3-4 years now w/o any major issues, and they are awesome highway cruisers. They get decent gas mileage too for V8s. Only thing is they have next to no aftermarket support. I would stretch to get one if I could get coilovers for them. I know you want stickshift but they are fine with the auto. G35s are good too; they have real manumatics... they lock up in lower gears and do not shift in manual mode till you tell them to. Plus they're fucking fast man. An auto coupe would be a great look for you.

There are a lot of options man./

Forget an IS300. Get a GS400. They pull something mean.

Yea either a GS or one of the same year SC400s (not the bubbly ass SC430)

Also if you have the maintenance patience... older XK8?

Not sure how much they cost used, but have you looked into Pontiac Solstice's and Saturn Sky's?

I never really heard much about them so not sure if they are good or bad

Good call on the Saturn Sky/Solstice.

                            Fun as hell to drive.

Then you can tell everyone you own the car from transformers. LOL
