video editing? wmm sucks

i've got a nice sony Handycam 60gb hdd camera. i put the videos on my computer and when i try to edit with windows movie maker it always gives me this error =[

whats the deal? it's a mpg file do i need to convert? and is there any other better video programs i can download? or acquire ;]

ya you will have to dl a converter. there was one i used to use that was simple but i can not recall the name right now let me go look it up. the wmm is kinda eh. lol its good for simple project movies but if you want quality then you will prob have to buy some software thats expensive.

Windows movie maker is your problem, but it's free. Every time I had a deadline movie maker would screw up on me.
