    smog issues in cali?

i was wondering, i found a f22a1 engine with 120k miles and it is only 75 bucks. but...is it like smog legal because doesnt the engine have a code on it? and wouldnt that code have to match the chassis or something?

what are the "rules" for replaceing the engine. can i put my f22a4 parts on it, to convert it to a f22a4 legally?

i searched online but i ant seem to find it...

all i know is around here it doesnt really matter but as for cali i would think it alos doesnt matter, well as long as you take out a 2.2 liter engine, and you replace it with a 2.2 liter engine u shouldnt have any problems at all. especially since your replacing it with basically the same motor. they wont even know. eve if u swapped a h22 it wouldnt matter itsstill a 2.2

yea, basically what he said. you shouldnt have a problem with it... i didnt. i even told my insurance company that i swapped a new motor in, and they said as long as its still 2.2, it doesnt matter.

doesn't the motor have to come from a car of the same year or newer?

It does but the F series are so similar the smog tech would really have to know his sh!t to tell the differences.

DrLove'sKuDang, they also won't care if something happens to your car, ie they'll treat it as if there is a stock motor in it payout wise.
