I was apart of a thread like this on another forum and it was very interesting to see some people's responses.
Who would you list as the best athlete of their respective sports?
I'll start a small list and lets see opinions or other players who should be on there.
Football
Joe Montana/Jerry Rice - My opinion, best QB and WR ever. Clutch to the hilt, amazing accuracy, part of arguably the best dynasty within the past 40 years (not including Lombardi's Packers).
Jerry could catch anything and proved it by not only winning 4 superbowls with the 49ers, even goes to the Superbowl with the raiders in 2002. (Granted they got their ass pounded by the TB Buccaneers, he still had a great season with the raiders that year.) 13 Pro Bowl nominations, another record I highly doubt someone will touch.
(I know there are gonna be plenty more players from this sport, so i'll just name one.)
Hockey
Wayne Gretzky - MVP 9 times during the 80's!!! This couldn't happen in many sports but damn, that's just crazy to think about. He led the Oilers to 4 Stanley Cup Championships, I can't think about any other player in hockey that could come close to his records.
I'll just list two sports, i'll let you guys fill in more.
