this is one of the problems of owning a eg hatch or should I say eh. People think they shouldn't have to work to get one , cause you know it's easier to steal one. That's one reason I'm glad I sold my hatch , and got a eg sedan
This is kinda off topic but after driving the hatch then getting a sedan . the sedan is a much better driving and quiter car.

you ought to wire up a hidden kill switch. We did one on my buddies EG that is hidden. they cant steal your car if it doesnt start! plus if they keep trying to crank and crank eventually if you are home im sure youll hear it!
