What a great idea! Champion against taxes in public parks, protected by public servants ALL paid for by TAXES!!!!

Let's forget public school, fire fighters, homeless shelters, community college, public works (sewage, garbage pick up, recycling, water sanitation), Emergency Highway Response (in MD)....

We'll always pay taxes...this wont change.

We've been living pretty much 'tax free' for the past 30 years.

The cause was very justified: I absolutely agree that government spending is going out of control, but the message was clearly misaligned as there wasn't a clear point given in the rallys (unless there were a multitude of points).

        What do you want?

        Less taxes?

        Less spending?

        Less Government?

        More freedom?

What do you actually expect? Are you OK with privatizing the public system?

No public libraries, no public servants such as mayors, police officers, legislators, fire fighters, school teachers, coaches.........

Because of tax dollars, we have a plethora of public services at our fingertips that we use EVERY SINGLE DAY.

If you are anti-tax....stop driving your car on OUR public roads, don't walk in OUR public parks, and don't bike on OUR public sidewalks.

Don't drink OUR public water and don't flush your waste in OUR public sewers. Don't recycle in OUR waste facilities and don't vote in OUR elections.

        I'm pro-America and pro-Tax.

I dunno.. First things first I'd like to opt out of social security, I'd like to opt out of police protection( the patrol division/911), I'd like to replace the mayor and city council with a manager and administrative staff and board that works for profit.

Sewage and waste I pretty much opt out of anyway because the city sends me a bill for services every quarter. I'd like to opt out of nasa, the missile defense program, red light enforcement cameras, any stimulus money headed towards my state, HUD, HHS, jobs and family services, women's health dpt, public defenders, swimming pools, rec centers, and if possible privatize all roads/highways.

Not realistic I know but from watching these tea parties the messages I came away with were deport illegal immigrants, democrats are socialists, obama sucks, and vote ron paul. I guess it did not help that there were no visible minorities participating in the tea parties. I sometimes think fox news hi jacked the movement and mobilized uninformed people from pretty redneck areas to the protests...

Well then you should expect to pay many times more for any of those services as paying taxes creates a pool that allows all of the services that we enjoy (police, firefighter, 911, public works, etc), to be free or at a minimal cost.

The only message I can agree with that these Tea Parties are presenting is ending government waste/earmarking. I'm not going to complain about the only economic expenditures keeping this economy from self-destructing. From a fiscal standpoint, raising taxes on anybody isn't the best policy to alleviate a recession, but, honestly, how many people attending those protests are getting their taxes raised? Most individuals and businesses are getting tax cuts. Only about 3% of the pop. are having their taxes raised and that IMO was a purely political move.

I am curious how most of the population can be getting a tax cut when over 40% don't pay taxes in the first place. Not only that but the federal government is greatly overstepping the bounds put in place by the Constitution. This is not what our founding fathers wanted.
