CL Scam?

Recently my dad was rear ended, they totalled the car and cut him a check for $2500. He was looking at CL and found this:

I bet you and your wife hate giving up this car. I wasn't in the market for a car until this past Thursday. Some kids rear-ended my car (KIA, whoopteedoo) but it did the job. Their insurance is going to cut me a check and total my car (I will actually get more back than I paid for it). I am giving them a call back Monday morning (4/13/09) to settle out a final decision (junk it or salvage title). I don't know how long it will take them to cut the check and get it to me, but if you can hang on for a few days, you have yourself a sale.

This deal would work out ideal for me. I have to have something to get back and forth to work. I currently have a loaner but have to give it back this week. I also have my 82 year old Aunt that I take care of, wasn't in the market for buying a car so don't really have anything extra saved up. Blah blah blah. Point is, you would be a life saver to me.

$2900 is good with me. Like I say, if you can hang on for a few days, you have a sale. I will get back with you Monday and let you know how long it will take to get the insurance check. As far as taking care of it, the car will be in good hands.

The nearest base is Wright-Patterson AFB inn Dayton, Ohio (2-2.5 hours). The nearest commercial airport would be Columbus Air Port in Columbus, Ohio (1 hour).
