The media makes it seem a lot worse than it really is.
That applies to any sort of natural disaster. It is easy for them to show the worse spot. When there is an earthquake in Cali they show the most devastating part of it just like when there is a hurricane over in Florida they show the worse part of it to us here in Cali.
Most modern buildings or places that are up to date with safety codes are pretty safe when it comes to earthquakes. The last major one here was the Northridge earthquake, and that changed a lot of things regarding how the buildings are built.
i like it just fine here in NC. we get decent weather. no insane carb laws or stupid crappy laws(well some like its illegal here in NC to live with someone your not married to. but no one here really follows that. not even the cops.). the police dont hassle you much except when your speeding too much, have an INSANELY loud car, or look suspicious.
its boring here sometimes. but then again, you have to travel to actually do something thats fun. but thats a good and bad thing. its good because at least you know you wont wear it out by going to that fun place every weekend. and its a bad thing because you dont always have the time or money to go.
i used to love living in VA or in MD. but laws there are too strict. MD is the 2nd most strictest state when it comes to automobiles. you may get your car inspected once for life, but if one thing, even if its a head light bulb, fails, the entire car fails. and unless you know the shop owner thats another $65-$100 you'll be paying to get it re-inspected.
