Great topic. God forbid some one here had a loved one killed by a drunk driver.

Maybe that means we have responsible members who don't drink and drive. Or, they just didn't get caught.

Drinking and driving is fucking retarded.

Any of you who drink and drive are idiots, and I hope you get what you deserve.

If you've already gotten it, well, I hope you've learned a lesson from it and allowed it to change your life.

          Alcohol is fucking dumb.

I only drink when i'm not the person driving OR, i'm grilling out and i know i'm not going anywhere but to bed.

I agree drinking and driving is stupid as hell as it puts everyone in danger.

Only once did I drive when I KNEW I couldn't. I watched the center line move back and forth, and it felt like there was nothing I could do to keep it straight. Somehow, I got home without hitting anything, without hitting anyone, and without getting caught. That was the scariest ride of my life. I was EXTREMELY stupid, and I learned my lesson... thankfully, I didn't have to learn the hard way!

The bad thing is that these days, the legal limit is extremely low. Now, that's not REALLY bad... It's a good thing... but 2 beers in an hour will put a guy my size over the legal limit. I don't feel 2 beers in an hour. 2 cups of coffee have a greater effect on me! But it would put me over.

The smartest thing to do is not drive if you're going to drink. At all. I don't know about you guys, but I don't think I've ever gone somewhere and had a drink where I didn't KNOW I was going to have a drink before I got there. I've never walked into a place and said "oh, alcohol! what a surprise!" If I want to drink a lot, I arrange a ride (or a place to sleep). If I want to drive home, I limit myself to a small amount, and give myself a few hours before I even think about driving home.

I love my cars. I love my freedom. I love my driving privilege. I NEED to drive for my job. As much as other people irritate me, I really don't want to hurt anybody. I really like beer... but it's not worth losing any of those things that matter to me! (not to mention the respect of my friends and family)

This thread isn't to glorify drunk driving... Quite the opposite.

It's good to see that so many people on here are responsible enough to not do it... and that those that have admitted to it have learned their lesson. Drunk drivers DO kill people. I hope that nobody on this forum has ever been one of those drunk drivers...

Why drink and drive when you can smoke and fly?

This is one thing I will never do. I don't care if I have to walk home. When I was younger my mom was hit by a drunk driver on a motorcycle. I don't remember much because I was only five or so, but the guy on the motorcycle was fine. My mom recovered soon after, but it totaled her Cutlass.

Wow. The Cutlass was totalled, your mom was injured... and the dude on the bike was fine!?!

Goes to show how much less you can be injured if you're relaxed. I bet he didn't realize what was going on until he landed.

My dad lost his license for a DUI once. He worked night work in a warehouse. He'd come home, eat a cheese steak, drink a few cans of Bud, and go to bed. However, one day he didn't have enough beer. So after a few cans, he got into his 86 Escort and headed to the liquor store. He was dead tired. Not drunk in terms of impairment, but probably over the limit (this is like... 1991 maybe?) Some dude ran a stopsign and t-boned him in the driver's side door. Knocked my 6'4 dad clear into the passenger seat. Some rookie cop arrived at the scene, told my dad that he fell asleep at the wheel because he was drunk (he was knocked out!) and gave him a DUI. Some veteran cop was there trying to talk the rook out of it... but no dice.
That was a bitch and a half... Dad took the train to work, and every day before school my mom and I would go get him at the train station.

Yeah it tore the entire front clip off the Cutlass. I think we still have pictures I'm not sure. Wow, that is a prue example of how cops abuse their power.

Eh, he was right, technically. My dad HAD been drinking... but he was a dick about it. The fact that my dad was drinking had nothing to do with the accident. I wouldn't call it an abuse of power, but the dude was a total dick to a guy that just totalled his car in a driver's side impact.
