Why go AMD? Get a core 2 quad OR the new I7 chip Granted I dont know much about the AMD chips... Otherwise, if you have the budget, throw a raptor drive on there - 10,000 rpm drive or is it 15,000rpm... meh I forget

well the i7 920 ish, is better then it, by a long shot, but i think its 340 CDN compared to 300 of the 940 x4 , and im not looking to play all the games at top fps , and the drives are fine for now.. untill ssd goes down , reg old style 7200 rpm ones :P

why not spend the extra $40 so you CAN play at top FPS Plus, look into SSD, I've heard that read times are a lot slower at the moment... not sure but check on that.

amd is better for gaming than intel is.


or it was when I looked in to it, a few years ago. amd was always better than intel than gaming, and intel better than amd for...other stuff.

Its an extra 40$ , that I really dont need, hell Im thinking of dropping the AMD proc I have now for a cheaper 9850. im looking to play cod 4 , cod MW 2 , BF2, Bf43, SC:2 , maybe Diablo 3 and some other games (GTA:4) any suggestions on MOBO/CPU combo? Should i get the current combo, or is it overkill for the games? Also What power supply should i be looking at 650watt one?

Damn dude, where are you getting those prices?!!? Those are pretty outrageous. If you haven't already, please check out newegg.com. You'll save more money that way, I promise you.

I would definitely find a better case. The case is one thing you don't want to really cheap out on. You should be fine with a 650 watt power supply, and again, you don't want to cheap out on it either. The new AM3 Phenom IIs are a lot better than their Phenom I predecessors. My friend has the 910 and it loads Vista Ult. 32-bit in under 15 seconds. I wouldn't bother going after an i7 from Intel if you want a less costly machine. Intel prices are extremely bloated.

Instead of a Quad-core Phenom II, why not go for the Triple-core Phenom II 720 Black Edition? There is a significant price drop, but the performance is still a lot better than the older Phenoms. I have the first gen triple core from AMD, as well as the 4850 graphics card, and it runs COD4 and COD:WAW very well. Look into it.

All this talk about new CPU is for nothing, that phenom II is more than enough processing power for what games you listed. Your weak point, in my opinion, is the video card. The 4850 is great value, but stepping up to the 4870 with 1GB of memory will keep you happy MUCH longer.

From what I've read though, 650 should be enough for a power supply. Don't get some cheapo brand and make sure it has 2 or more 12 volt rails. 4 is preferable as it adds more future flexibility.

Thats another $300 tacked on to his price...

With that said though, the core 2 Quad Q6600 is a great overclocking processor, and could easily go beyond that AMD... The Q6600 is only about $180 too...

I dont like AMD personally... It seems like every computer I have used that has an AMD processor is slower...

As for the power supply, go for corsair. I have the 750 watt in mine and its a good name with a 5 yr warranty. I think mine was about $120...
