4e-fte should be straight bolt in but toyota wiring has always seemed like a PITA
then if you want it to really zoom.. build a 5E bottom end (5E= 1.5>4E=1.3) and slap a bigger turbo or up the boost on the little one that came with the 4E.
for NA setup you should go with a 4A-GE 20 valve (black top one is better. ive seen the AFM on the silver top go out way too easy). it is not a direct bolt in as A and E motor mounts sit at different spots. and again wiring might be a PITA
transmission choices are really nice you just have to swap clutch housing between A and E series.
starlet GT is a fun car that never breaks and gets good mileage a tercel should be pretty close
