    Finally revived my computer

Yes, I've finally brought it back to life!
It died on October 23rd. I brought it back today (Jan 12th).

When it died, my AC adapter melted inside the power jack. I pulled it out after a while and the entire inside of the power jack came out with it. Since then I've taken it apart, desoldered it, resoldered it, cleaned it, put better thermal grease on the CPU block, put it back together x3, and the final result is great

I've had this running for 5 hours now on 100% cpu usage. It's been on a bed running (real bad for cooling circulation) and it's still cool. The last time it's been this good is when it was out of the box I'm happy now

    Cool man.

My desktop finally crapped out on me after YEARS of using it. After I pay my friend back for my fogs, I'm debating on if I should just pick up a brand new rig, or get an HDTV with income tax around the corner.

    Haven't decided yet.

what brand computer was this? a coworker dropped off an Compaq because it wasn't getting any power. i tracked it down to this chip that plugs into the mobo. it looks like the board burnt up where the laptop power cable plugs in.

i'm using a computer my mom bought me after high school back in 2001. still running strong. Personally i chose the HDTV LOL, just don't get a monitor also if you get a computer that way if the tv you buy has a monitor input you can hook it up to that and then watch tv using the PIP.
