    I quit my job today.

As many of you know, I took a job for a huge property recently. The job turned out to have been heinously misrepresented, but it was a job and I figured I could stick with it until something else came along. The Project Manager that hired me had met my requests and offered me a dollar more per hour than I asked for.
if you've been following this thread then you know how horrible the property is and a small portion of my personal issues with the property. I've been struggling with balancing out the need to have an income with my social, professional and personal ethics, mores and responsibilities.
After having what I thought was a constructive discussion with the Project Manager yesterday, I arrived at work this morning, not bright eyed and bushy tailed, but at least in a better frame of mind than usual.

And then something happened that made up my mind for me and I quit today.

As soon as I clocked in the Maintenance Supervisor handed me the prepay oncall phone and told me "Bert (Project Manager) says you're on call this week. No arguments and he doesn't care about what was agreed on when you got hired."
I just smiled and pulled their keys out of my pocket, dropped them on his desk and turned to go.
He said "Now hold on, Jon. Don't go away mad."
"I'm not mad, I'm just going, Jim. It's nothing against you, and I'm sorry about this, but I will not do on-call out here. It's a half hour drive and then I'm supposed to go search for parts in the middle of the night? No way."
"I told Bert you'd quit if he did this."
"Well, now he knows you're right. It was part of the reason I agreed to come work here; no oncall. It was nice working with you Jim. Good luck."
"Hey, it was good working with you too, buddy. Good luck to you."

Then there was some discussion outside with the other new guy (Mr. Anonymous news guy ) while I waited for one of the other guys to move so I could get the coupe out. He's expecting a phone call about a new job today about 10:00.

I still feel obligated to do something to get the Health Department and any other housing related agency out there that I can. It's reprehensible that people are living in those conditions.

It sounds like alot of shit i was dealing with. If you gotta travel and bus out a job make them pay for it thats all. I used to deal with that at my last trucking company when they would make me travel it was fine and all.

Then they made me stay local dealing with certain people which took a long time to make and pick-up deliveries. I still deal with my company now and such which is okay to a certain point.

They still ask me to this very day to come back im like nope no can do. They value me becuase not only am i local but im that experienced but if the job is too much of a hassle it doesnt seem like its worth it.

I wouldn't mind being on call, but not for this property. Go look at the other thread linked above. You'll see what I mean.

Yeah.you never know what might pop up on a late night call in that place. Some crazy fucker might just be balls deep into some heavy narcotics and isn't thinking straight.

                Then what?

                Well good luck man.

Thanks for the support. It's one of the reasons I love this site so damn much.
I've already sent out half a dozen resumes. A couple of ads sounded like they were written for me, so I hope they'll pan out.
