Well anything will be better then my old, balding all seasons. I had absolutely no grip whatsoever. Which is why I kept them on as long as I did, to have some fun .

However, I am sure Flagstaff is a different story. They are probably buried under several feet of snow by now. Not to mention the fact that they aren't just on nice flat land. There is one hill in particular in Flagstaff that is really treacherous during snow season. It is called Cedar Hill and it is like 3 or 4 miles long and it is all a steep grade. LOL! Not to mention the rest of the hills.
Mostly, for around here all seasons are fine, as nothing usually sticks around too long, and if you don't drive like you are retarded you are fine. Unless you live in some of the higher elevations. I used to live in a house up above a main road and I used to watch cars and trucks do circles down the hill.
But in Flagstaff, I would most definitely own a set of winter tires. They are a good investment hands down, if you have the weather to use them.
Sadly, I have to go spring for new all seasons this week.

I have managed to keep my Potenza's in very good condition for the last three years. I don't take right angles turns very fast, as the change in the suspension geometry will cause uneven load on the tires and eventually ware them out. Also make sure to keep the tires properly inflated; I stick to 34psi.
In contrast, the Yokohamas I bought two years ago for my mom's Sentra are almost gone...my mom and my little brother drive that thing like its a go kart. I am going to guess that the stickiness of the tires gives them extra confidence in the right angles turns.
The above should also apply for sticky and gummy winter tires; when the snow goes away, it is important go easy on the tires, especially on bends.Last edited by lokuputha; 12-19-2008, 12:58 PM.DEVOTE

Its like 4-5 inchs here already. started snowing just after 9:30.
Last winter in the bmw 525i, i almost totalled it a cupple times with all-seasons on it.
this winter i installed maxxis ma-w1 wintermax, dude these tires plow through the snow like no tomarrow. best bang for the buck. they cost like 75 a peice, bought them from work for 50 a peice.miss my turbo cb7
