I'm sure atleast from my username most of you have picked up that I'm into guns. For the past month I have been on a search for a new AR-15/M4 and yesterday at a Gun Show I found mine. I was actually lookng to purchase one before the election but it never happened and since Obama won everyone has went assault rifle crazy and gun & ammo prices have went thru the roof. The belief is that once Obama is in office he will put the Clinton Assault Rifle Ban back into effect. Anyway out of the politial BS.
THE FIND: So at the packed out gun show I walked past the tables looking for any and all AR-15s/M4s and as I would see one, I would made a mental note of the location, and kept moving to see if any other deals compared. Found nothing close to one table I had passed. So I went back to the table, the gun was priced at $725. Told the guy I wanted it and he got one still in the case from under the table. I went and sat down and started filling out all the nessessary paperwork for the gov't. Then I had a friend call my dad and tell him about it (dad has also been looking). So I asked the sales guy if he had another exactly like it. Then I offered him $1400 for the pair and he agreed. So I came back with 2 identical guns for $50 less than the tagged price.
This was the best deal that I have been able to find since the election. Most were selling for $900-$1200 depending on brand, which these days is onlt a name. All of these have interchangable parts and are built on the same design. For example Colt = $1500
I got a DPMS Panther 5.56NATO Sportical
$700 out the door.
