    Fighting Spam User Accounts

My website, TheSciFiForums.Com, has been invaded by spam bots registering countless accounts to post their spam with. I've set the forums up so that I have to verify newly registered members before they can post, as the human verification feature doesn't seem to phase them. Deev, I know you're having this problem on CD5Tuner, if not here too, but I don't know to what extend you have them. I just saw the user "vialeta," and instantly recognized that name from one of the spam bots' accounts on my forums.

What are you doing to combat these pests? I'd also appreciate input from anybody else who might have some insight on this.

the vb version at cd5tuner is now outdated. I suggest *obtaining* a newer version of the forum.

Hmm.... I'll have to suggest that to the site's owner. I created and run the site for the owner. He's got the licensing and everything. What I don't understand is that some of those accounts seem to somehow verify themselves, without my approval. Also, I can't see how they get past the cache/human verification feature, unless a real person is actually sitting there verifying all that crap. Ugh....

Yeah... I've done all I can with CD5tuner's system... and I'm assuming the problem hasn't let up

With this version, I've implemented a few things... including a question and answer thing. I don't know if Accord R33 did anything extra to safeguard against spam when he did the upgrade for me, though. Knowing Eric, he probably did. He's smart like that!
