    paying?

i have a problem and i dont know how to go about it. we were working on a house(roofing) and a guy asked me if i did roof patching so i said yes. I gave him an estimate, he agreed to it. i go home and drop off the other workers ,get the material and go back. i call him and ask him if its ok to start, he left somewhere. He gave me the thumbs up so i do it. I finally finish and i call him. He tells me that he lll give me a call later on that night to pay me. He never called . i call him the next day and he tell me to call him the next day because he s waiting on some money. k so now im getting worried . i called today and he doesnt answer. what should i do?

This is very touchy because if you don't have a written, legally-binding agreement with his signature he could weasel his way out of paying you. Might be time to go to his place with some thick-necks and strong arm him...

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

I did a deconstruction (like demolition, but with a salvage attitude) job for a guy one time and he tried to run me around like that. After a week I drove to his place, made sure he was there, called him to ask when I could get paid. He tried to say he was out of town, so while I was talking to him, I knocked on his door. He answered and the look was almost worth the $3000 he owed me I then made him pay me and told him not to call me for any more jobs. I also told him if is check bounced I'd be back with my tools when he wasn't home.

Do you usually do work for individuals without a down payment?

          I assume you're a licenced contractor?

Vandalizing his car certainly won't get you paid, and might get you arrested.

It's only been like three days?

          Stop freaking out.

Some people do shitty things, not all of them, just some.

And we can't go out and beat the shit out of them cuz then we'd be arrested, so we have these legal contracts to make sure the criminal faces charges, not the victim.

Without a contract, it's your word against his. When it comes to money, you NEED to get things in writing. It makes life so much easier in the event of something unexpected, like this.

You could always go back and take your roof patch back

It's better than showing up in his driveway at 3am with a bucket of brake fluid and a paintbrush... though that would be pretty amusing. I've always wanted to see an Altima with no paint on it...

people must be brave to not pay people even though you know where he lives, lol.

im scared of meeting people in front of my house for car parts because i dont want people breaking into the house in search of it!

Jasco Paint and Epoxy Remover from Home Depot or Lowe's (do NOT get it on your skin). It works a lot better then brake fluid. Or so I've been told by the sort of people that would do that sort of thing.
