And putting anything in-front of your face or covering your face accomplishes nothing. The ticket will still be sent to the address that the plate is registered to. The picture of the driver is so there can be no dispute as to who was behind the wheel.

Most of these tickets are automatically issued to the registered owner of the vehicle, so no matter who is behind the wheel, YOU the registered owner get the ticket. You need a sign to tell you that if you are breaking the law there is a stationary camera ahead that is going to send you a ticket in the mail? Really? Its a red light, whats so hard to understand about stopping? You are breaking a BASIC Traffic Law. Red means stop, you choose not to you will get a ticket if you get caught, whether you get caught by a camera or a live person, you broke the law, you got caught, man up and just pay it. I suppose you would like there to be big yellow signs saying, "Hey Speeder there is a cop running radar ahead" everytime there is a cop with the radar gun switched on. Good luck with that.

Well if u look at the picture it says at the time i entered the intersection the light had been red for a half a second. i didnt think it would turn red on me so there was nothing i could have done in a half a second but to go through it.

Entrapment would be a someone sitting there pushing a button making a green light turn red suddenly and then taking pictures of everyone that ran it. Unless something has changed in California, I am pretty sure this light was green then yellow, then red.

Since most red light camera's around me are ran by city government, there is not an online database for red light camera enforcement. There is legislation, currently stuck in committee, in the Kansas House that would organize moving violations onto a publicly accessible online database. Until that happens I can not give you an example, well I could but its not worth the leg work just to get the information.

You could contest it by saying that you're not the driver but the judge makes the last call on this one and the picture is pretty clear. You could also say that the light has a fast yellow in which you would have to record the time the traffic light stays yellow and prove that it is under the legal time limit.

this is part of the agreement when they put the red light cameras up. plus, you can still run a yellow and have it turn red while you are still in the middle of the intersection because as long as it was yellow by the time you passed the limit line, you are safe.

so still technically, you are running a red light.

to the OP, id pay the amount and plead not guilty. show up in court and pray they give you the option for reduced fine and school.

Well i just got this paper in the mail today about some red light i recently ran!
My opinion is its complete Bullshit, i mean come on.
Look at the taxi in the oncoming lane!
Id say that looks like a Red Light Violation rite there as well!
But hey, id say there some pretty good pictures.
Its whatever though.

From the information at the top of the screen, the light was red for 0.5 second before you entered the intersection. And you were going almost 20 over the speed limit.
Do you really consider this bullshit?

Bottom line, I'm no fan of red light cameras or red light stings, as they tend to be set up at very large intersections where it is much easier to run a red light.

The order of the color light is driving 101. A stale green (green light that has been green for a time) usually changes. Its part of being a responsible driver. A responsible driver knows the way that green light will eventually turn yellow and then red, and a responsible driver would be aware of a light's potential to turn red.

There may be an agreement about red light camera's and signs in California, but here in Kansas and Missouri there is no requirement to put up a sign to warn anyone that they are breaking the law and about to get a ticket.
