just got back from the dsm/evo shootout

Man, what a weekend. My friend has a 95 eclipse, and a bunch of my other friends have other dsms, so he rented out a campground spot and we went down for the weekend. The dyno competition was crazy, there was a 701hp evo that was LOUD, and a few tube frame fwd dsms with the biggest turbos i've ever seen; one of which had a custom water/air intercooler. The next day was the race at norwalk, which was sweeet. My friend said last year hardly anyone broke down, and they made up for it this year. I watched a 1g talon grenade a differential, and watched the driveshaft rotate on the track when they pushed it. These guys from montreal showed up in a low 8 capable car, only to blow a tranny. Of the quick 16 i think 12 were 10.0 or under. One of my friends also won the bracket class , and the other got third. Would have been second, but he went under on the last run. All in all, a good weekend.

And try as i might, they wouldnt let me run a cb racists!

i dont remember honestly, if i look through all the pictures my friend took i could probably tell you. I do know that there were several evos that ran 10's that didnt really look or sound much different from stock until they floored it. There was also a 4g63 powered mazda rx7, and a 80's toyota celica with a 4g63 swap. The toyota was funny, because you'd see evo, evo, talon, evo, eclipse, toyota wtf? It ran 11's iirc. I think my friend's evo 9 was dialed in for 13.6, but i think it could have been a little better, he was running stock boost until the 3rd round, and then they bumped it up to 17psi. The other guy that was with us ran, but gave up on even entering the bracket since he was too lazy to put his 1g bov on, and the pos 2g plastic terrible stock one was leaking like a mofo and i think he seriously ran like 17. I mean, come on, i think my car could do 17.

Another interesting thing, on the drive down there, my car was louder than anyone elses, with just that exhaust leak. It isnt even bad, only when accelerating is it really noticeable. Also these guys from chicago came over to talk to us at our campsite, and they were talking about the dsm, and my friend comes back in the cb with a load of firewood, and he does the obnoxious "pop into neutral and REV" right before he pulled in, and they look over and i said "yeah, that's mine" and the dude was like "sounds pretty damn good"

i'm not 100% sure all of the pictures are up, i'll post interesting ones as i find them. This car was LOUD. Not as loud as the evo 9 with the bumper exit, but still loud. It had a mean launch too.
