    good headphones for iPod?

I recently got a new iPod classic 80gb, but Im not really liking the stock headphones that came w/ it. They're made outta this really uncomfortable hard plastic and kinda crack at high volume too, which sucks.

I went to the apple store nearby me, and they've got some good ones made by all the well known companies but they're pretty pricey. Bang and Olfsen (sp?) are 250 and then there's these klipsch ones for 350, and many others. The only ones I recognized were these BOSE noise cancelling ones, but those were even 100 dollars.

Any suggestions for good ones that are comfy? it seems like there are so many out there to choose from that i'll go crazy.

what kind of headphones are you looking for?

      earbud? ear canal?

ones that sit on your ear? open air? closed?

ones that cover your ear? open air? closed?

      noise cancelling?

how much are you looking to spend? you can spend anywhere from 50-1000+ for a decent pair of cans!

check out http://www.headphone.com/ that website should give you allll you need to know about headphones, good reviews (including frquency responce graphs), general price, etc.

make sure you get somthing that doesnt require too much power to run (so your ipod can still power it and have it sound good!)

im rockin grado sr-60's. they are probable THE best headphone for the money. they are an over the ear headphone, open air. they can be a little heavy. you can hear almost everything around you when you are listening to music at a normal level (this can be good or bad depending on your situation,)

im also rocking sennheiser cx-300. they are an ear canal headphone that i picked up for 50$ online. they are great at blocking out noise. i can be listening at a normal level on a bus and have it block out most of the sound. they are a bit bass heavy but overall are pretty decent. they are pretty comfy too but you cant rest your head on them.

      hope this helps.

yeah thanks! I was looking to get something in ear. Something black maybe lol? so it matches the black ipod i got. I'm looking to spend about 60 dollars or less. I don't wanna down all my money in headphones. Maybe something with noise cancelling tech. in it?

hmm well, I looked at that headphone.com website and am interested in these possibly: http://www.headphone.com/products/he...r-6i-black.php

They're about 87 bucks though! but may be worth it. They got a 4.5 outta 5 rating. And w/ that design, they totally isolate outside sounds. So on paper stats look good. And also they have about 16 ohms of impedence so I could use them for my computer as well.

Also, what does isolation mean? its got -20db, I'm assuming thats how well they cancel out sounds from the outside? so the greater the number the better?

if you shop around i bet you can find them for a lot less than 87$. i got my sennheiser 300cx-b's for 50$ while they list for 90$.

the isolation means the amount of sound blocked from the outside. the higher the number the better the sound blocking is.

the ear canal phones, like the etymotic's, are basically an ear plug with a speaker.

yeah the reason I ask also, is I got the damn iPod less than 2 days ago, and when i turn up the vol. one of the speakers is already cracking! So I called the dude at the apple store and made an appointment to have the "engineer" look at it. What I want them to do is hopefully give me credit for new ones so I can buy these Bose ones they had for 100 bucks in there.
