Just wanted to mention that I got 35mpg last night on my way home from canada. 447.7 miles in 8 hours using 12.787 gallons of E85. It was really humid so I'm wondering if that helped too. I averaged 70mph on highway when possible.

The biggest issues we face with running E85 in our cars are;
1.) The fuel injectors are small and can get gummed up over time very easily when using E85. The solution is to replace them with larger injectors that'll work with #2's solution.
2.) Our car's computers aren't setup to know how to utilize E85. The computer in Flex Fuel Vehicles senses E85 and can adjust the amount of fuel that is given to the engine at any given time.. our computers can't do that without major modification or replacement.
Solution: There are quite a few kits on the market that add the capability to adjust our fuel system for E85 - and they run about $450-$600, depending on where you get it.

As for the OP; Unless you have a finely tuned FFV, you will most definitely lose mileage (mpg) by running E85, you won't gain mileage (mpg).

damage to fuel lines would be caused if you ran 100% alcohol (ethanol).
15% gasoline is intended to lubricate fuel lines and any metals that might be corroded by alcohol.
OR you can fill up mostly with e85 and put 1-2 gallons of gas to better help lubricate and coat your parts.
I've been running on e85 for almost 2 months on my H22 CB.
In the process of switching the VR4 to e85 as well (just got the 1600CC injectors in!!!!)
