a shop quoted me $600+ to change the fuel pump on my truck.

and this website is telling me it could be fixed for so much less!

what!!!??? dont do that bro! haaha just do it yourself man..im sure the majority of fuel pumps are easy to remove/replace...cuz if i can do it, so can you man. Just have a Haynes manual or this site handy. The fuel pump and retainer costs 160 altogether for me from Autozone if i remember right.

oh, yeah of couse i'm going to do it myself.

i took it to the shop for an a/c test, and i just asked them how much it'd be fore them to fix the fuel gauge too, and that's what they quoted me.

it's crazy!

When i had my accord i found a reciept for a clutch job for like 550 bux.this site is saying a clucth job should cost from 750 to 1400? i dunno...the lowest price is independent shop prices...

hmmmm well it may be on the lowball side. I just checked to do a Head Gasket on there and it was like 778-1021. It cost WAY more for the places I checked at. Like around 1400 at the Honda Dealer and 1300 at my friends shop. I did it for about 600, only b/c I had the cyl. head rebuilt w/ new seals and a valve job done to it, as well as new ARP head studs. If I would've had them rebuild it and stuff, it would be closer to 1600-1800

Eeveryone wants the cheapest price...Most of the time YOU WILL NOT GET THAT PRICE...unless you go to Mexico. Anyway you have to keep in mind other people have to make a living too. There is gouging then there is making a living.

over here in NH the Honda dealer i work for is 92.00 an hour

OHIO :Honda Marysville (my work)- labor is $86 per hour, or depending on circumstances we will work with you usually dropping labor rate to $62. When it comes to flat rate you cant control what honda says it takes, but sum jobs take a fraction of the time to do. I would rather make a sale at discount compared to not making the sale at all, so I will work with the customer as much as I can.
