what year dodge diesel ram should i get?

I read that some of them have tranny problems.

i plan on selling my truck for aroudn 10 - 12k

so around 10k on the truck. I want it to be just as reliable as my nissan is with 80k.

    i was thinking like something under 100k miles and like a 1994 - 2000

something like this would be nice but not as extreme

Most of the tranny rep comes from the gas powered models.

The diesels are very stout trucks.

I know one that is a 2500 and it pulls a 20,000lb gutter trailer, all day everday. It has WELL OVER 100K and really hasn't had many major issues or anything. It has had some stuff replaced, but mostly things like brakes etc.

Also, my uncle has 3 of the older ones one '93 (last of the boxy style) and 2 of the first gen AERO style. One a 97 3500 4wd and one like a 96 2500 4WD. Neither one has had many issues, and they both have also done a ton of pulling. My uncles horse trailer all up weight is somewhere just north of 20K with water on it, and he said he hasn't met a hill yet that it won't do at least 70-75 MPH up, if he so chooses. They are very much working trucks.

The only thing I would caution is to find a mechanic who knows Cummins, because if you give them good PROPER maintenance, they will run for years and years.

Get one with a 6 speed.

One of my uncles has a 2002 2500 King cab with a 6 speed. It is the last year of the body style you are looking at, and the last year the 2500 was available with a manual.

Can't go wrong with a dodge truck, but why do you need one?

the cummins are awesome but just make sure you take care of it because to rebuild those it isnt very cheap.

the cummins 6bt's are a beast to boost though.

thats around what i get now, at max i get 15.5 when im just normally driving and about 12 when im in traffic accelerating allot.

i get shit gas mileage at the moment.

and when i convert to biodiesel, i wont care about mileage.
