Heading home today on Rt. 30 i hit another car. Its four lanes, two going northbound and two going south. No divider. Its a new backway that i decided to take. I thought i saw my street comming up, but i kinda missed it so i tried to make the left turn from the right lane. Bad idea!
I glanced at my driver's side mirror and saw nothing there. Thats when i tried to make the left turn from the right lane. Next thing you know i smack into this Buick Regal! He catches my rear driver's door pretty good, then we just kinda clapped each other.
He catapulted to the left. I kinda lost control and was going up against traffic. I was able to dodge a truck heading towards me. Ate the curb and scratched my wheels up pretty bad. By this time my car had stalled out and i was able to cost into a parking lot.
The guy comes up and asks if im OK, i ask him the same thing. We're both fine. The police comes and writes a report. While the cop is doing that i tell him that i know someone that owns a body shop and can get his stuff fixed nicely.
(All he needs is a Pass. side headlight/Fender/Front bumper)
My owner of the shop told me that he'll take care of me.
So i told the guy that we shouldnt go thru insurance.
But he said no "going thru the insurance is the Right thing to do..."
I tried tell him not to go thru the insurance. Both his and my payments are going to go up. Plus he had recently bought the used Buick and its going to be noted in its Carfax, so thats going to be bad when he tries to sell it.
All in all, my car got the most of the damage. Im still pissed at myself because i am a good cautious driver and i know deep down that other days i wouldnt have made that left turn.
Its my first accident where i have been at fault.
It sucks! and its hella embarrassing!
But i guess thats life, you live and you learn.
Thankful no one was hurt, and thankful that it wasnt my CB!
