According to oil analysis done, which is the only real way to determine the health of your oil, and what is going on in your engine, Amsoil was losing its cleaning and viscosity properties long before Mobil 1 did. The test wasn't complete among all synthetics, as was the original plan, but Mobil 1 and Amsoil were both tested, and lab results showed that Mobil 1 clearly outperformed Amsoil.

Unfortunately, these tests are like $30 a pop, so doing it isn't common, which leaves lots of internet speculation. These test are quite common in aviation, so the health of the engine can be monitored at all times, and the $30 is a minimal cost in the face of maintaining and airplane, or worse, replacing an engine, which usually starts at $12-20K on the cheapest end.

I want to use Torco when I build my engine!
Bisi uses that exclusively....I want to try it, My dad is an amsoil dealer lol.
I asked him once, "If it is so good then why do you have to sell it door to door?
Why cant I go down to shucks and buy a quart?"
      His answer, "Beacause it Sucks".
