Same. I want to know what Luca Pancrazzi's intention was out of this piece. Why a Maserati? Why not cover the entire car? Why not one cleverly devised area - say, the steering wheel, or the seats, or the air bag covers, for example? Why with only one color of glass? Basically, why do it this way to get your point across, and how does this affect anything other than the "wow" factor. Why not just cover a glass with glass shards, you know? These are the kinds of questions you have to use as an artist, or at least be thinking about in general, for critique.
I don't think it should be flat out denied from being considered art without knowing exactly what Pancrazzi's thought process was, and why he chose to approach it this way. At least Pancrazzi sees it as a piece.
I'm not standing up for it at all, but as a personal peeve it bothers me when people accuse something of not being art when they don't even bother questioning what art itself is. Is art merely contained to what can be done on a canvas or a sheet of paper?
What defines something as being a piece of art and something else from not being a piece of art? That's one of the questions that made the modernism movement, impressionism, etc., what they are as they stand in the world of art - and society, today.
