    Restoring oxidated Rota MSRs

    A little project I'm doing:

How I bought it. Actually this rim is a better one of the 4.

Very oxidated. Rusty and everything. 2 were completely brown. Too bad I didn't take pictures prior to my project.

A little elbow grease and a touch of jdm_inspired:

I bought this with an intent to throw it on my car but I knew when I seen it, it wouldn't fit. So with a little TLC, it came to this and I will probably be selling it soon (for more than I paid for sure).

Discontinued Rota MSR's. Thought of different colors but this combo looked best. Mirror finish polishing is a biatch. Wish it would've fit my car. Although I'd have to eat my words of rocking replica parts. So it worked out fine.

    Steps I took:

    320 grit
    400 grit
    600 grit
    800 grit
    1000 grit
    1500 grit
    2000 grit
    Mother's aluminum/chrome finish
    Masking
    Primer
    Paint
    Clearcoat

Assume each grit takes 10 minutes.

YES it is tiring and time consuming.

Any input on my work is much appreciated. More to come...I'm not done. Deeper re-polishing to do.

Just wanted to share my work.

4x100. I hope I find some real WORK rims like this in a 4x114 pattern.

How do you cover the valve stem?

Since even a lil bit the paint strip will eat it.

                              Wrap it in masking tape.
