uncle el: so say if G.W. decides to raise money for vietnam2 because he doesn't want to go through congress, he can just propose and sign into law that we pay 300% increase on our income tax?
that's the general feeling.
in actuality, the whole vehicle licensing fee is unconstitutional to begin with. you buy a car, like you buy a computer. it uses gasoline that you pay. state taxes already goes to roads. vehicle registration fee doesn't go into transportation (for road improvement, etc...) so why tax cars? why stop there? why not tax the computer, clothes, everything else we buy annually because we own it?
but back to increasing the tax. davis signs the increase completely bypassing the legislature. only reason the legislature isn't crying foul is because everyone's in politics is too scared to try and tackle the deficit problem. finger pointing. it's someone else's problem. stupid politicians.
